Dad Believes Mom Sold Baby Gabriel for Ruby & Diamond Ring- More Proof Gabriel is Alive

CBS5 was with Bob Johnson in his Tempe Arizona home when his granddaughter Elizabeth Johnson- mother and kidnapper of missing Baby Gabriel- called him from Estrella Jail in Phoenix and asked him to come to the jail and pick up two of the items that she had on her when Miami Beach police arrested her on December 30, 2009- $300 in cash and an expensive ring that had sat inside a pocket. This occurred on January 16, 2010. The ring was not described and no value was given to news media.

But on February 17, according to late-breaking news from CB5 affiliate KPHO, Johnson's ex-boyfriend and father of Baby Gabriel, Logan McQueary, has learned the ring is worth $20,000. It is a the ruby-and-diamond ring that he never saw during his two years of living with Johnson. McQueary believes the ring is further evidence that Johnson sold their son into an underground adoption. "Sometimes when they [the parents] give the baby away for adoption, they hand over a piece of jewelry to the mother or someone who is handing over the baby as a payment instead of money," said McQueary.

KPHO also reports that while the first phase of digging up the east-side of the Tessman Road Landfill in search of the baby's body has ended and the second phase of combing by hand will begin, McQueary continues to have strong reason to believe that Elizabeth Johnson lied when she sent text messages and also called him saying she had killed Gabriel. After her arrest on December 30, Johnson retracted the story and told police that she had wanted to hurt McQueary. And McQueary agrees with her. "It's looking like Elizabeth handed him [Gabriel] off to somebody and I don't think Elizabeth did what she said. I think she just said that to hurt me," said McQueary.

Before Johnson, 23, ran off with Baby Gabriel on December 18 from Tempe Arizona to San Antonio Texas- where Gabriel was last seen on December 26- she was a poor jobless single mother, who with the help of 'person of interest' Tammi Smith (who had hoped to adopt Gabriel) had sought a Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) grant and thus started receiving WIC coupons.

Johnson's expensive ruby -and-diamond ring does indeed seem to be an ill-gotten trade for her hapless infant son, if this story is true. In order to get Baby Gabriel back, McQueary, may not only have to return the ruby-and-diamond ring to the baby broker but also compensate the adoptive couple for whatever they paid for Baby Gabriel.

The ring is a lie. Gabriel's mother had no jewelry on her when she was arrested.
