Dad's Day in Daytona , Florida

Have Fun on Father's Day in Daytona Beach, FL

Father's Day is here again so it's time to decide on what you're going to do for your father on his day June 16. The thing about living in Florida, as opposed to many places around the country, there are a lot of things to do that Dad will love doing on his special day.

Here in Daytona Beach, Florida you can find something fun for the whole family to do besides going to the beach. Chances are the beach is like home and you want to do something special on his day. Just make sure that there is some good food somewhere in the day and everything should be just fine.

There is lots of fishing here in Volusia County. If you have a boat of your own, going down the river is a good bet. There is about the same amount of marine life inside the river as out in the ocean. If you go fishing in the ocean you will need a stronger and larger boat because you have the waves to contend with. Or you can find boats to rent or ones that will take you out for ½ day, or whole day excursions for a reasonable rate. If you go out on a fishing trip, they usually include all the bait, tackle and lunch in the price of the trip. It's a great way to let Dad do something that he really wants to and take the family along too.

Another good idea is to go down to the jetty. Dad can fish while the rest of the family swims, lays out, or the kids can play in the park. There is something for everyone here.

Or maybe Dad's more of a golfer. Do you know that we have two of the top courses in the state? Send Dad off on a day of guilt free golfing, and he'll be happy when he gets home for dinner, dessert and time of opening presents. He will feel appreciated!

If you would like to spend maybe a day or two, and a little more money, luckily Disneyland is close and always fun. If you're local, you might have a year pass, if not, day passes are available. If you've to Disney recently, try another park. Sea World is great with all the animals, Busch Gardens has been open for 5o years and is going strong. Universal Studios is bound to get your blood pressure up, and then there are smaller parks where you can just spend the day on a lower budget.

Another good idea is to take Dad out on an air boat. These boats have giant fans built on the back so there is no need for a propeller. They can go through the marshland, over the water or down the river to see alligators, as well as many other types of wildlife. Many varieties of birds live back in the marches and are beautiful to see in t6heir own habitat. You can go out anywhere from ½ hour trips to ½ day trips.

When you're all finished out in the sun end the day with a good dinner. If you've been out fishing, hopefully you've caught enough to cover everyone. Then you can take them home and put all those fish on the grill with some butter, some corn on the cob and some potatoes and have a great BBQ. Hopefully someone in the family baked him a cake; it is so much better to have homemade. If not though, stock up on a cake and ice cream from Publix. That always makes Dad feel good!

If you are out and don't want to go home to cook, there are so many restaurants in town that he's sure to have a favorite. Take him there. If the kids made him any cards or presents, bring them along cause now's the perfect time to give them to him. This brings the day to a perfect ending and you'll have Dad feeling really good and appreciated. Happy Father's Day!
