Daily Conditioning Treatment for Your Lips, by Blistex

Susan Slade
Checking out the reduced area, in the local Walgreens drugstore, I came across a jar of Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment. It wasn't on a card, but when I opened the jar, it had the safety seal in tact. It was reduced down from $3.49 to just 87 cents.

I love the Blistex Complete Moisture Lip Balm, and thought that this being a 'treatment' might be even better.

When I got the little, net weight .25 (7.08 g) pink jar home, I opened it up. It has a 'lift 'n' peel seal', which was quite hard to remove. Once done, I lifted the small jar to my nose, and the smell was medicated. There was nothing on the jar to say this, so I was a little hesitant to use it.

The color of the DCT looks just like honey. I washed my hands, and then had trouble getting my finger into the small area. I have long, natural nails, and ended up getting some under the nail. I applied it to my lips. Initially I didn't get enough, so I applied more.

Within a minute my lips felt on fire. That had to be the ingredient, that was the medicated smell, or herbal smell. A couple of days ago the skin on the inside of my mouth, near my lips had broken, and I figured when I pursed my lips together the Blistex DCT must have gone into it.

It was a mistake for me to buy a product without the packaging. if I had have had that, I could have checked before using it. I had to go to the manufacturer's website to find out what was in it.

Active ingredients:
"Octinoxate 7.3%
Oxbenzone 4.5% Both are for sunscreen.
Petrolatum 54.8% For skin protection."

Next I checked the inactive ingredients, and found menthol, to be one of them. I decided to put this Daily conditioning Treatment away, until the open area, just behind my lip had healed. I thought that a lip treatment would help my lips to heal, and didn't realize that it would cause a problem. The heat went out of my lips after about 30 minutes, but the moisture stayed.

I did also notice on the website that it says, "Do not use on deep or punctured wounds." I wouldn't have classed my little bit of broken skin behind my lips as this, but the warning is there for a reason.

The weather has got colder here again in Florida. The temperature is down to freezing, or below at night, so I have started using it again.

It really does fill my lips with moisture, and they stay hydrated even after having a drink. Once I have eaten, it does take some of it away, but they are not dry.

Both yesterday and today the night temperatures have been below freezing, and has got up into the 50's during the day. I left England because of these kinds of temperatures. Before going out I have been applying my DCT to my lips, and haven't had any dryness, or cracking. This cute little jar of lip treatment really works for me.

What Blistex say about this product, from their website:

"Blistex DCT combines moisturizers, vitamins and protectants to provide a daily maintenance regimen for your lips.
DCT keeps your lips in perfect condition every day of the year, in all climates, through all activities.
Smooth & Supple Lips: DCT nurtures your lips with two proven moisturizers, Aloe and Cocoa Butter, plus Vitamins A&E. DCT softens and smoothes the surface of lips to help them look and feel young. DCT helps to prevent and replenish moisture-starved cells that can occur from daily exposure to dry air and other environmental conditions."

Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment has an SPF 20, so that is also a great benefit, with me living in Florida. The size of the tiny jar is perfect to put in my purse, or handbag. This is a keeper for me.
