Daily Dose of Nonsense: Grammys and BO

BO is Box Office

Scope it, as in Horoscope: Your shoes will get soaked this week. Many people will use that opportunity to complain about the weather again and then get a cold so they can have a day off.

Bonehead Tip of the Day: You read a few history books and now you are an expert on the events in Egypt. Who wrote these books and how indepth were they? One more thing. When suggesting others doread up on stuff, make sure you talk down to them first - - nice touch. You might as welll call them an idiot like you think. That's always a good way to start the discussion - - insult them right out of the box.

The List: Weekend BO
1. "Just Go With It" - $31 million
2. "Justin Beiber: Never Say Never" - $30.2 million
3. "Gnomeo and Juliet" - $25.5 million
Source: Box Office Mojo
Notes: I said never over the weekend but many did not as Justin Beiber raked in some BO. However, not enough to take the top spot from Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. I know that sounds like a sentence that needs clarification - - Aniston on top at the box office. What? Now, let's take a look at the weekend. There was no football and the weather surely helped lead to two mediocre movies nabbing over $30 million. Meanwhile, "The King's Speech" won the BAFTA, which is the British equivalent ot the Oscars. I, along with many others simply do not want a movie about Facebook winning the top prize. Though not a bad movie, just not Best Picture, like "The King's Speech."
Grammy Ratings: Yes, there were upsets at The Grammy Awards, but to me, not the one everbody is focusing on. That would be the jinx category, Best New Artist. Nope. It's more like Eminem winning two despite being up for 10. However, the ratings were up over last year but a far cry from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Take a look at 1984 when almost 52 million people tuned in.

Trivia: There is a mammal in Argentina that nobody cries for - - they may laugh. It's called the hairy armadillo. I repeat, that is a hairy armadillo. This mammal, however, has almost no hair. The hair it does have grows out of its plate and is one long hair. I lived next to Hairy Armadillo once. We laughed at him all the time.

Closer: Avoid VD but enjoy Valentine's Day.
