Daily Dose of Nonsense: Super Ratings

Weak BO

Tim O'Brien
UPDATE: Game averages 111 million viewers. A record, as predicted here. Scope it, as in Horoscope: Keep being bitter and angry about things and continue to think it's not your fault.

Bonehead Top of The Day: Let's face it, the Super Bowl commercials and half time show are for people who do not really care about the game. Was that a "Tron" half time show I was watching?

The List: Weekend BO
1. "The Roommate" - $15.9 million
2. "Sanctum" - 9.2 million.

Notes: I knew it would be a bad BO and I was right. Wow, a James Cameron film couldn't muster double digits. Enough said. We knew it and it happened. Meanwhile, we figured all the right things were set for the Super Bowl to be the most watched TV program in history. Think of it this way. When they were describing the number of people affected by the blizzard, that was how many watched the game. That was event TV. Please, no lockout next year guys. I always like the Bud Light commercials even though I didn't pay much attention this year. Why? It was a close game and I use my breaks to pick up another Bud Light. This was a good weekend to get out bad news if you had any, that's for sure. Egypt still a huge story but overlooked. Come on, we have problems here, too.

Trivia: The most watched TV show which aired after a Super BOwl was "Friends" when 52 million tuned in. "Glee" will be between 25-30 million. Remember, it averages 9-11 per week - - ONLY.

Closer: Super Bowl and events like it are good business. Even if you do not like sports, it cannot be ignored on that level. We need events like this.
