As a young player
I watched Martina hungrily
wished for her racket
and Susie Chapstick
as my doubles partner.
In a game where
Love means nothing
Martina scores
a legendary novelist
a socialite
or two
(more groupies
than games won)
then spends as much time
in court
as on it.
