Daily Promises from the Bible

The Bible is a Book of Promises Not Just Words

Curt Moore
Bible verses are more than words written in a book. They are inspirational words which can define your life and allow you to have a perspective that doesn't vary daily. When you believe the words are divinely inspired and accept them as such, they have meaning which doesn't change with the circumstances of life. My thoughts, attitude, vision, and direction in life are all based on my belief in the promises of the Bible. A promise is an express assurance that something will transpire as stated. That's what Bible verses are to me.

I state to myself every morning Psalms 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it." This means that whatever transpires this day, I must rejoice and be glad. It doesn't matter how I'm feeling or what my emotions are. It doesn't matter if the weather is rainy and gloomy, cold and miserable or hot and draining. God has given me this day. He has given me life in my body to face it. If I rejoice and stay glad in it, everything will work out and there will be nothing that can hold me down. This verse has helped me through many days when it seemed that nothing in life was going my way. It has gotten me going when I awake on the wrong side of the bed. When I don't feel good or have the energy to face the day. It's not mind over matter. This day is a blessing from the God I serve. I will rejoice and be glad in the day he has given me.

Likewise Romans 8:28 fulfills the previous verse and inspires me to keep going. "We know that God works all things together for good to those who love him, those who are called according to his purpose." I know that if I rejoice and am glad in the day God has gifted to me, everything will work out for good. For I love him and have been called by him for his purpose. Therefore he will work all things out in my life for good. It is a promise and an express assurance for life.

Continuing to inspire my day with promise is Proverbs 3:5-7. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path." When my trust is in the Lord I know he will guide me. Even when I do not understand what is going on or may not be able to comprehend why a situation is occurring, God's promise is to trust in him and my path will be directed. The hard part is to let go of my understanding and trust in God's promise. The greatest joys in life often occur when I don't have the answer or understanding. Honestly, I don't understand a lot of things which happen in my life each day. However, trusting in God's knowledge rather than mine will bring direction for my life. This is my promise from God.

Therefore I know that if I rejoice in the day he has given me. Trust in the promise that all things will work together for my good. Then I know that my path will be directed by him. I do not need to understand it. Rather, I must trust in his promise, his express assurance for my life.
