This weekend; however, after mowing my huge yard in the heat, I decided to try a Daily's Frozen Peach Daiquiri. This premixed cocktail comes in a cellophane pouch that you stick right in your freezer. That way it is ready to go whenever you want to drink it.
Made with wine rather than hard liquor, this product can be sold in most grocery stores. I purchased mine at Wal-Mart for $1.97. That's a lot cheaper than anything you can buy at a restaurant or bar and you don't have the mess and the fuss of mixing the drink yourself at home.
The alcohol is 5% or 10 proof, which is relatively light and safe for most adult drinkers. It is; however, still not recommended for women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Ingredients in Daily's Frozen Peach Daiquiri include high fructose corn syrup, natural flavors, pear juice concentrate, sucralose, water and wine. It also contains citric acid, glycerin, gum arabic, maltodextrin, medium chain triglycerides, potassium sorbate, red 40, sodium benzoate, sodium citrate, sodium polyphosphates and yellow 40.
To fix the drink, simply freeze for at least 8 hours. Then set the pouch out to thaw for a few minutes or run it under hot water. Kneed it to loosen the slushy mix inside. Then cut off the top and pour the drink into a glass. It's ready to go in just a few minutes.
Each pouch represents one serving. A pouch consists of 10 fl oz or 296 ml. There are 220 calories in each Daily's Frozen Peach Daiquiri.
This cocktail contains no fat but does have 36 g of sugar, 44 g of carbohydrate and 210 mg of salt. On the flip side; however, the drink contains no nutritional value.
Because Daily's Frozen Peach Daiquiri contains alcohol, it isn't safe to drive a car or operate heavy equipment while under the influence of this cocktail. The government also provides a warning on the label concerning the health dangers associated with alcohol.
Here is my summary review:
Taste: 4 stars. While Daily's Frozen Peach Daiquiri doesn't provide the best tasting drink of its kind, it is actually pretty good. It's certainly great in a pinch. I would definitely serve at parties.
Smell: 5 stars. This drink smells like fresh peaches. It's refreshing.
Appearance: 4 Stars. The color and consistency of the drink is good but a little too red-orange to look absolutely natural.
Freshness: 3 stars. The pouch keeps the drink fresh and flavorful. However, I noted no use by date on the product so I don't know how long it might reasonably last.
Nutrition: 2 stars. This cocktail has no nutritional value and it is high in sugar, carbs and sodium. This might not be advisable for individuals watching their intake of those items.
Green value: 5 stars. The packaging is supposedly refundable.
Packaging: 4 stars. The packaging is attractive enough but a little on the funky side. It comes in a cellophane pouch that is white with a black top and peach and black trim. The Daily's logo is done in silver against the black top. The words "alcohol is in it" is printed in heavy black letters across the front so it can't be missed. A picture of a peach daiquiri and peaches grace the center of the label.
Ease of storage: 2 stars. The pouch measures roughly 9" in height by 4.5" in width at the widest point. It is about 2" in depth fully expanded at the bottom. It doesn't store well flat nor does it stand up so it is a bit of a problem to store inside or outside of the freezer.
Availability: 3 stars. I haven't seen this mix anywhere but Wal-Mart so far so I'm uncertain of how wide its distribution might be. I suspect it might be handled in some liquor stores however.
Price: 5 stars. The $1.97 price tag was a major selling point with me.
Overall rating: 3.7 stars. It's good but not perfect.
RATING SCALE:
5 stars = outstanding
4 stars = good
3 stars = average
2 stars = below average
1 star = poor

Post a CommentI love strawberry daiquiris. I've never tried peach. I'll have to look for it when I reach my vacation destination this coming weekend. We always make a stop at W-mart before going to the cottage. Thanks!
Sounds good.
Cool...
excellent work:)
I bet it is refreshingly good. I will have to remember to sample this one.
Love peaches!
I don't drink--similar family issues--but thanks for your review!
Thanks Charlie, I will have to look for this at Walmart and try it out.
One of my favorite drinks..... :o)
I also don't drink because my dad's family were alcoholics. Great review though!
