If there's one thing I love most in the food world '" besides French fries '" it's ice cream. I have wonderful memories of ice cream, especially ice cream from Dairy Queen. It's one of my favorite places to go and the Blizzard has to be the best ice cream treat available. While I can't indulge as often as I used to, I do still save room in my weight loss plan for the occasional treat. Last night happened to be one of those times and I decided to get the Hawaiian Blizzard because it's has one of the lowest PointsPlus values out of all the Blizzard flavors. The fact that it also tastes great might have played a part in my choice as well.
The Hawaiian Blizzard starts with vanilla soft serve ice cream and is then loaded with toasted coconut, pineapple and sliced bananas. If it weren't for the ice cream, it might be a really healthy treat. Seriously though, this is one of the healthier Blizzard options.
I love the combination of flavors in this Blizzard. The pineapple and banana are always nice and fresh tasting and the toasted coconut combines beautifully with the creamy vanilla of the ice cream. I also love the textures in this Blizzard. The toasted coconut adds a faint crispy texture that I just love.
A medium Hawaiian Blizzard has 600 calories, 21 grams of fat, 15 grams of saturated fat, 1 gram of trans-fat, 50mg of cholesterol, 240mg of sodium, 92 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, 75 grams of sugar, 13 grams of protein, 20% of your daily Vitamin A, 6% of your daily Vitamin C, 40% of your daily calcium, 15% of your daily Iron and a PointsPlus value of 16. I said it was healthier than most Blizzard treats, not healthy.
I give this Blizzard 5 out 5 stars. The flavor and texture combination is out of this world. Best of all, it's lower in fat and calories than many of the other flavors and contains fruit, which is healthy. Okay, that's a stretch, but still, this is a great ice cream treat and well worth the fat and calories. Just remember that it's a treat and should be eaten only occasionally.

They are marvelous, I love them. Great article.
When I saw Hawaiian the first thing that popped into my mind was pineapple. I thought, boy this ought to be good--until I read, "banana." They don't set well with me. Coconut, pineapple and vanilla ice cream--yum, yum. I wonder if you can get it without the banana? I've order banana splits without the banana before. (I get funny looks and this question--"Without the banana or any banana flavoring?" I suppose once I'm out of sight the split maker twirls his finger around his ear. My brains may be scrambled, but that has nothing to do with the way my stomach feels after eating a banana.)
