There are many free things to do in the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex. Being a college student, I had to find things to do that were not expensive yet fun.

Not in any particular order, if you like watching movies - Victory Park in Dallas hosts a movie night every week at the park. You can bring a lawn chair and observe it with your significant other or friends and family. Also, depending on the season, they have jazz shows at the Dallas museum of arts. Many people go to this event because it is peaceful and free, usually bringing a glass of wine to complement the soothing music.

Occasionally they also host events in either downtown Fort Worth, or Dallas. The Museum of Arts in Dallas and the Kimball Museum of Art in Fort Worth are free on particular days of the week. You can find out the day by going to their website.

As far as parks go, Trinity Park is famous for their big trail and pond. Arlington and Joe Pool Lake are good for picnics and fishing. You can also feed the fish at Joe Pool Lake in the spring and summer time.

The Botanical Gardens is another fun place to hang out at - there you can look at the gardens and enjoy the nice warm weather. There are many free things to do in the DFW area that are just as fun, there is no need to spend a lot of money if you don't have to.
