Have you ever had an experience at a restaurant where the staff goes over the top to make sure you have a wonderful evening? Can you imagine having amazing service and the taste of the food is still the highlight of the night? I searched and scoured websites for information on top restaurants in Dallas, Texas and had many choices. My wife and I had not yet found our favorite restaurant in Dallas, so I set out to start a tradition. After several reviews, I decided that I would reserve a table at The Place at Perry's.

I made the reservation through the website opentable.com, which allowed me to send a message to the Maitre D. The message I sent stated that the evening would be our wedding anniversary and that we would prefer a romantic table away from any kitchen noise. When the night came, my wife and I dressed up, black evening gown for my wife, and suit and tie for myself. The Place was easy to find in the Uptown area of Dallas located at the corner of Routh Street and Cedar Springs. Valet parking was included for the night, but tipping was expected of course. From the outside, walking up the steps, The Place was a picture of elegance which only continued once we were inside.

In our excitement, we arrived a little early. We were politely greeted when we walked in the door and congratulated on our anniversary, which was extremely nice. I knew we had found a special place from the moment we walked in the door. I immediately noticed the lights were kept at a low level, and it was a quiet atmosphere. It was decided that we would sit at the bar and enjoy a few cocktails before being seated. The subtle Frank Sinatra music playing softly through the speakers, and a dirty Martini in hand, it was like being back on one of the first dates I ever had with my wife.

Once we were seated, we were given two glasses of champagne, on the house, for our anniversary. Lazily floating in the champagne were two slices of strawberry, cut into heart shapes. We never asked for this, but it was truly one of the nicest touches I have ever received from a restaurant. I opted for the strip steak with the signature "Michael" topping, and my wife went with the filet mignon. They were both exquisite, and rightfully so as the Place at Perry's has held on to their Chef, Jaime Corona for ten years. It was a magical evening, and The Place has become not only our favorite steakhouse, but our favorite restaurant in Dallas.
