Thieves with Specific Needs.

February 7, 2009: "Let me borrow your business..."

Early Saturday morning, one or more unknown suspects broke into "The Best Hot Dog in Town" and stole thousands of dollars worth of supplies and equipment. Included in the police report: two hot dog carts worth $10,000, two air conditioners, two circular fans, two work lamps, three portable heaters, two metal coolers, one deep freezer, a furniture dolly, a stereo, 100 cases of assorted beverages (worth $1,500), 80 packs of hot dogs, and $80 worth of chips.

February 8, 2009: "The Old Switch-a-Roo"

At a supermarket on Garland Road, a 29 year-old woman was caught trying to defraud the store. She stole a package of scotch tape, and then proceeded to remove some of the price tags on several packages of chicken breast, and replacing the tags with others. Per the police report, she removed tags on packages totaling over $20. The woman was arrested and taken into custody.

February 9, 2009: "And your little dogs too!!..."

At the Superior Tire and Wheel shop on Harry Hines Boulevard, police officers were called after someone reported a break-in. Unknown suspects had cut open the gate to the property and stole a dozen tires worth about $100 apiece. The thieves also stole four 24" chrome wheels, and three pit bulls.

    I played store security for a while. You'd be surprised how many people switch tickets. (Do they not realize the numbers identify the product? - at least in many cases
