Fox just announced that Dallas will be the home for production of its new show "Jack and Dan," a cop show starring Colin Hanks (Mad Men, King Kong) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing). The show is produced by Matt Nix, creator of the USA Network drama "Burn Notice." The announcement comes as the ABC court drama "The Deep End" is already in production locally. The show from producer David Hemingson (How I Met Your Mother) stars Billy Zane (Titanic, The Phantom) and Clancy Brown (Shawshank Redemption and Starship Troopers). The production is utilizing the Studios at Las Colinas and the George Allen Federal Courthouse to film scenes.
Dallas has been the site of a number of major productions, including "Bonnie and Clyde," "Robocop," "JFK," "Walker, Texas Ranger" and "Prison Break." In a statement, Fox Television senior vice president Bob Lemchen said "Creatively, Dallas offered us terrific shooting locations, as well as a great crew base. Dallas is simply a great place to shoot."
Dallas has proven itself to be a versatile location for both TV and film. When season two of "Prison Break" was filmed in the area, north Texas doubled as a number of different American cities and towns, as the storyline called for a manhunt of the show's characters across the country. for season three, a set was built near downtown to portray a remote prison in Panama.
Both "The Deep End" and "Jack and Dan" will air on TV in 2010.
