Her heart is damaged, yet unbroken,
By the one who tried to use it,
The one who tried to abuse it.
By the one who tried to burn it,
The one who tried to turn it.
Her heart is damaged yet unbroken.
It longs for the one who would choose it,
The one who would gently improve it.
It longs for the one who would cure it,
The one who would willingly endure it.
Her heart is damaged, yet it beats on
To the rhythm of her unsatisfied hopes,
To the rhythm of her unrealized dreams,
And to the rhythm of her unquenched desires.
Her damaged heart beats on
to the rhythm of her unrelenting will.

Post a CommentExcellent poem. As soon as I saw the title, I knew I had to read it. The woman that I was dating broke - off our relationship one month ago and I have been deeply hurt. She says that she is too stressed - out in general and can't handle being in any type of rlationship now. I thought she was the woman of my dreams and I haven't fully given up hope, but it looks bleak. Your poem helped me.
Wow, this is really deep. I like the wording.
