Day Trip
Dan Nicholas Park is a great place for children to visit. A small scale train goes around a track for children to enjoy. The train ride is $1.00.
The Carousel ride is to the right of the train ride. Childrens' eyes light up, as they choose the horse they want to ride on. It is $1.00 to ride the Carousel.
The Petting zoo is located in a barn. There is a peacock, goat, pigs, and a cow. Old wagons are also on display in the barn. It is $5.00 to visit the petting zoo.
Hurley water plaza is in the middle of the rides. Children love to shed their clothes and get all wet. Children run around in their bathing suits enjoying the sunshine.
The Nature Center and Cheerwine Aquaruim are free. Snakes, lizards, and alligators fill the Aquarium.
Rowan Wildlife Adventures has zoo animals for you to view. Bald Eagles can be seen in the trees. Lions, tigers, and bears await your visit. Adult tickets are $1.00. For children under 10 tickets are $.50.
There are two playgrounds to choose from. The large and small playgrounds have slides, swings, and tunnels to crawl through.
Children can play putt-putt for $2.00 each. The putt-putt course is located in the playground area.
One half an hour paddle boat rides cost $2.00. Beginner buckets of gems can be purchased for $7.00 at the Miner Moose Gem Mine.
In the Summer time you can take a ride on a Character boat. Choose from a duck, dragon, swan or pelican for $3.00 per person to ride.
Bicycle rentals are for 1/2 hour rides. Single bikes are $4.00. Double bikes are $6.00 each.
Picnic shelters are available at the park.
