Dana Jacobson and Kelly Tilghman: Over-Played Comments

Dana Jacobson and Kelly Tilghman: Over-played comments: Wow. Here we go once again. Somebody who has a face on television says something and it is taken way out of context. This no longer surprise me. It seems every little comment is so overly scrutinized in the media these days.

While I can understand people getting upset with the comments by both women I don't understand while it is getting overly exposed in the media headlines. There is much more important news that could be covered like how the Gulf Coast is still in need of help in the rebuilding process after Hurricane Katrina.

Dana Jacobson was at a roast for her co-workers. A roast is meant to be funny and to have a good time with it. Dana had fun had a good time and perhaps a little too much to drink. The media is acting as if she (Dana Jacobson) is the only celebrity type person to ever get drunk have a good time and say something she shouldn't have. Sorry to inform them but not only do everyday people do this but so do people in the media spotlight. Everyday people do even far worse than this both famous and non famous people. We hear, see and read it all. I would rather hear that she got drunk and dropped a few bad words then to hear she got drunk got behind the wheel of a car and killed an innocent person because she was driving drunk. This is an issue the media needs to get over plain and simple.

As far as Kelly Tilghman goes, listen to Tiger Woods when he says this is a non-issue. I am sure had Kelly known that all of this would have been taken this far out of context and the media would turn the tables on her making her look racist she would not have made the comments. She has apologized for her remarks on this issue. Tiger Woods has also stated that the 2 of them are friends and this is a non issue in their friendship.

I know listening to the overplayed comments on the news I was not offended and found it funny because it seemed as if she was joking to begin with if you listen to the tone of her voice. Also if you listen to her she is paying Tiger Woods a huge compliment basically saying he is very hard to beat and the best at the game of golf. Anyone who watches the game of golf knows that Tiger is the best right now. Again another area the media needs to get over it.

In my opinion, the media has overplayed both comments and made mountains out of mole hills. The news should be covering the more serious issues at hand. There are much more important thing than the words of a few media faces have to say. There are things in the media that should be broken down picked apart relived several times. This however is not one of them.

While I am not a pro writer by any means I would love to get in to it full time. I like writing mostly poetry songs and short stories. I would love to take it to the sports level at some point covering the N...  View profile

I would not defend either one of those guys. They have both on more than one occassion made comments that were innappropriate. I have never heard of either of these ladies doing anything previously and everyone desrves at least one chance. Neither of these ladies have appologized for the sake of keeping their jobs unlike Limbaugh and Imus who have done that on more than one occasion.

I guess it all depends on the mountain and the mole....imus was sacked for his comments...the golfweek editor was fired for the cover picture....countless other people get sacked for saying less.........but these two ladies walk with a short suspension.....it's always "what's the big deal?" when it's one of your own but a white, Christian male says anything offcolor and he's shown the door.........
