In a very speedy response to my query about whether or not Halloween in Danbury Connecticut had been "cancelled" Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton issued me a statement on Facebook .
According to Mayor Boughton , "Halloween is not canceled. Due to the unprecedented amount of wires and power lines down, we are asking people to trick or treat at the Danbury Fair Mall. CL&P will not be cleaning wires up until Tuesday at the earliest, it would be a tragedy if someone picked one up and got shocked."
I don't know how many people are going to be manning their doors for trick or treaters in the greater Danbury area anyway with so many of my friends and family in the dark.
My cousin Christina who has three children in the adjacent town of Bethel Connecticut echoed the Mayor's comments saying that she would not be going out with her kids for Halloween. "Yes, unfortunately it is too dangerous. Trees and wires down everywhere."
So that's the story in Danbury Connecticut. In a way it may have even been better that this storm hit two days before Halloween so that way everyone could assess the damage and make alternative plans instead of just going gung -ho with their long established Halloween plans.
What do you think about this trick or treating at the Danbury Fair Mall everyone? 4pm would ordinarily be kind of early but because school's are closed from the storm, this Halloween change of plans may not be such a big deal after all.
