Dance Record Shopping in Miami Beach: Tech House, Drum 'n' Bass, Breakbeats and More
Where to Buy Beats for Your Dancefloor Needs
Miami, FL 33139
I found 2 record shops, both on Washington Ave in Miami Beach.
First up was Grooveman Music. . . this shop had a good selection of house, tech house & progressive but they didn't have a lot of breakbeats of any style, whether Drum n' Bass, Hip Hop or Breakbeats. I did end up finding a few breakbeat & tech house tracks that I walked away with. Prices were average. They also sold DJ gear, bags, cases and had some cool camouflage t-shirts.

Secondly I hit Uncle Sam's Musicafe. . . they had a good selection of all styles, a really good back catalog, great prices on domestics. The only thing that sucked is that their stock was alphabetized! You have to know what you are looking for. . . which makes it hard because when I hit a record shop most of the time I just go through their breakbeat section for tracks, and check the progressive, trance & house sections for remixes. Here all styles were alphabetized under 2 headings: domestic & import. Though it would've taken me seemingly several hours to go through their large stock I still managed to walk away with a few tech house goodies because the breakbeat tracks I did find were ones that I already passed over while online shopping. They had loads of CDs and some t-shirts as well. On the plus side this place is open til 2AM. . . that's unheard of in the midwest! The late hours must come in handy for all the national and international talent that Miami Beach sees in and out of its clubs. . . great when you need to track down that last minute hot track to help blow up the spot.
