Dancers in the Wind

I saw a leaf tremble in the wind;
Then watched as it tumbled down
into my waiting hands.
I held it there and marveled
at such a delicate thing:
strong with age and wisdom,
yet such a vulnerable heart.

I held it tenderly to my breast,
and there were just the two of us:
Dancers in the wind.
