Dancing with the Stars 2009 New Cast for Season 9 Introduced

Robert Dougherty
Dancing with the Stars 2009 has its new cast for Season 9 today. The Dancing with the Stars 2009 new cast announcement for Season 9 was heavily hyped on Good Morning America, as usual. This year's Dancing with the Stars 2009 new cast has the usual demographics on board, as athletes, B-list actors, singers, and a few wild cards make up the Season 9 lineup. The Dancing with the Stars 2009 cast is sure to get many people talking, and ensure that Dancing with the Stars Season 9 won't miss a beat.

Today's Dancing with the Stars 2009 Season 9 announcement on Good Morning America introduced the country to its newest dancing icons. Some new cast members seem obvious, some are out of the blue - and one in particular is a bit of a shock.

The Dancing with the Stars 2009new cast became big news on the political front when Tom DeLay was picked for Season 9. Tom DeLay has now gone from former House majority leader, and one of the many Bush administration officials to face scandal, to a reality star.

By joining Dancing with the Stars, DeLay has gotten one up on Rod Blagojevich, who failed to join the reality TV circuit when he was rejected for I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! Aside from Tom DeLay, the Dancing with the Stars new cast has its usual mix of talent and B-list star power.

Musical icons like Donny Osmond, Macy Grey, Mya, Aaron Carter and Kelly Osborne will be on Dancing with the Stars Season 9. The sports demographic is represented by Michael Irvin, Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin, and boxer Chuck Liddell. The actors in the new cast are Melissa Joan Hart, Debi Mazer, and Ashley Hamilton - whose father George was a Season 2 contestant.

The rest of the Dancing with the Stars 2009 lineup has Iron Chef America's Mark Dacascos, models Kathy Ireland and Joanna Krupa, and snowboarder Louie Vito.

For Dancing with the Stars Season 9, things will be done a little different in mid-season, according to host Tom Bergeron. Three double eliminations will be held back-to-back at that time, while dances like the Charleston, the Lambada, the Two Step and the Bolero are worked into the rotation.

The latest edition of Dancing with the Stars continues the show's unlikely place as one of reality TV's biggest non-American Idol hits. The show is always used as a platform for a return to fame for its B-list stars, and for some form of wacky behavior to take place on and off the dance floor.

With ABC promoting the show's lights out every season, starting with the annual Good Morning America new cast announcement, Dancing with the Stars 2009 should be as big as ever.

Season 9 of the show is set to premiere on Monday, September 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC.

Just to inform you that I and all my family and the people I know will not be watching this year due to the fact that Tom Delay is going to be on. We feel that he is very racist and disrespectful of President Obama. I am a 67 year old WHITE woman and all my friends are white.

I just want to see a list of who will be on the show this year! Not all the extraneous stuff!

I didn't know Tom Delay could dance, with the exception of the Texas Side Step.

  • Sam 8/17/2009

I thought he was a UFC fighter??

Have we seen the lineup of the professional pairing?

Chuck Liddell is not a Boxer....... He is an MMA Fighter and former Light Heavyweight Champion. Stylistically he is a Kick Boxer. Too bad these reporters don't do thier homework.

I feel sorry for the male dancer that gets stuck with Joanna Krupa. She was such a bad sportsman on the SuperStars show. Poor T.O. never had a chance with her. Wonder what angry words she will throw at her dance partner if she and/or they get bad reviews from the judges.....
