Dancing with the Stars 2009 Week 6 Results: Melissa Joan Hart, Louie Vito Eliminated

Preternatually Pretty Melissa Joan Hart and Diminutive Snowboarder Louie Vito Will Dance No More

Hartley Engel
For reasons that are hard to comprehend (at least for me) preternaturally pretty Melissa Joan Hart and her engaging pro dance partner Mark Ballas were the lowest vote getters - and thus the first couple to be eliminated - on Tuesday night's Dancing With the Stars 2009 week 6 results show - which featured a double elimination.

Then the two couples with the next lowest scores - Michael Irvin/Anna Demidova and Louie Vito/Chelsie Hightower - were forced to compete in a dance- off. Each couple performed a 30-second routine that they learned Tuesday morning; Michael And Anna danced a samba and Louis and Chelsie performed the jive.

Bruno Tonioli wanted to save Louie and Chelsea, Len Goodman wanted to save Michael and Anna and tie-breaker Carrie- Ann Inaba stepped in to allow gridiron hero Michael Irvin and pro Anna Demidova to dance for one more week. Darn that Carrie-Ann Inaba! (I've got to believe that Michael Irvin is going to be eliminated in next week's double elimination round; if not, I'll eat my official Bubba Gump movie promo hat. You can see it sitting atop my dome in my profile pic.)

So we say goodbye to the diminutive snowboarder Louie Vito and, as previously mentioned, actress Melissa Joan Hart (of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" fame). "That's the game," said Melissa sagely. "It's tough, I was hoping to make it one more week. My husband was coming next week with my kids."

"It's a lot harder than it looks, dealing with frustration, nerves, because you're doing something you're not comfortable with in front of millions of people," said Louie. "Every day I got out there and danced, I was proud of myself just for getting out there."

My disappointment in seeing Melissa Joan Hart go was somewhat assuaged when the lovely Anna Trebunskaya (Chuck Liddel's former pro dance partner) danced with her husband Jonathan (along with pro dancers Cheryl and Tony and Maks and Edyta) , to Taylor Swift's "Love Story." (Is it just me, or is Taylor Swift painfully thin? They say TV puts at least five pounds on you, and she looked skinny as a rail. The kid needs to fatten up a bit.)

Next week's results episode of Dancing With the Stars 2009 will feature another double elimination. As mentioned above, I believe former Cowboy Michael Irvin will be one of the stars leaving, but you never know - he clearly has a very dedicated fan base. Other couples in trouble are Kelly Osbourne and Louis van Amstel and possibly Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff.

What do you think?

When mentioning Taylor Swift, I was suprised you were talking about her weight. I couldn't get over her voice. I'm no expert, but I'm not deaf and that girl cannot sing. I wish so much they would get some really good singing talent on once in a while. Maybe its just me.

Paul got this one right. Neither of them had any feel for the music and it cost them.

This is for all of the contestants and this is why Melissa & Louie were voted off and did not get the praise from the judges.

The contestants have to FEEL the MUSIC when they are dancing. If you don't feel the music you are not going to make the right moves or look good while performing. If you look at alll of the ones who finshed at thr top...they FEEL THE MUSIC!!!! Bend their knees and dance on the balls of their feet when necessary. Act like you are enjoying the music.

    Sincerely,
    Paul Kline
