Dancing with the Stars 2010 Week 7 Results: DWTS Season 11 Elimination Surprise Sends Rick Fox Off-Court
Skating with the Stars Cast Revealed
DWTS co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke got the party started by asking head judge Len 'Crankypants' Goodman to introduce the week 7 encore dance. In recognition of the stellar efforts of multiple couples, Lennie called Team Apolo to the ballroom floor for a reprisal of their 'Bust a Move' cha cha cha. With last night's two leaderboard toppers -- actress Jennifer Grey and singer Brandy -- and a good-natured NFL star -- Kurt Warner -- in the mix, there was no way that dance could fail.
Post-encore, the Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 7 elimination action got started in earnest with Brandy, and her opposite, last night's leaderboard bottom-dweller teen activist Bristol Palin, up for review and judgment. The confessionals for both were tinged with sadness, as Brandy lamented her small misstep and Bristol wept over missing her young son at home in Alaska. Brandy and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were deemed safe to dance again, while Bristol and partner Mark Ballas found themselves in danger.
Up next and in honor of the 200th episode marker, Brooke and Tom introduced the Dancing with the Stars Awards, which were presented to special stars who offered up the most memorable moments in DWTS history. Nominated in the first category, Most Dramatic Moment, were the following former hoofers:
Cristian de la Fuente's arm injury
Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani's fight
Misty May's ruptured achilles tendon
Marie Osmond's fainting spell
Kelly Monaco's wardrobe malfunction
The winner? Marie Osmond, of course. Marie accepted her award from Las Vegas, and she thanked partner Jonathan Roberts for making it possible by "not catching me!"
With one award down, it was time for some good quality Macy*s Stars of Dance steppin' as the cast of Mary Poppins took to the DWTS ballroom with the uber-famous Step in Time chimney sweep routine. Ah, makes me remember my younger, much simpler days when Dick van Dyke and Julie Andrews tapping and singing could make the world a little brighter. *Sigh* Great stuff.
Speaking of great stuff, there was more to be had after a break when Taylor Swift and her sparkly guitar hit the stage with Mine. Prepped-up DWTS pros Chelsie Hightower, Lacey Schwimmer, Dmitry Chaplin and Tony Dovolani did their thang to visually accent the performance. Now I like Taylor, really I do. But once again, I'm struck by how off-key she can be while singing live. Is it just me who notices? Sometimes I think so. But whatever: She's still wildly popular.
Oh, well, speaking of 'worsts' or off-key-ness, the next Dancing with the Stars award presentation was up next as Tom and Brooke introduced the nominees for Best Worst Dancer:
Kenny Mayne
Master P
Kate Gosselin
Steve Wozniak
Billy Ray Cyrus
The winner? Dancecenter's own Kenny Mayne. Kenny accepted his award, insisting that "you guys will get what I was doing later", a la Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future. Oh, Kenny. (It's a good thing they didn't pick Kate. I can only imagine the horrible tantrum.)
The Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 7 results continued as Brooke addressed two more couples: Jennifer Grey and partner Derek Hough, and former Laker Rick Fox and partner Cheryl Burke. Both pairs excelled during last night's competition, Rick with his Jolly Green Giant version of Helio Castroneves' banana man quickstep, and Jennifer with her remake of Drew Lachey's Tango. Jennifer and Derek were proclaimed safe to dance again, while Rick and Cheryl were placed inside the jeopardy box.
And then, more Dancing with the Stars awards, of course! The nominees for Biggest Dancer Transformation:
Derek Hough
Tony Dovolani
Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Mark Ballas
Louis van Amstel
(What? Where is Cheryl Burke?! I was just telling the hubs yesterday that she looks way different than she did during season 2, back when the weird nude lipstick, too-dark tan and black hair ruled her world.)
The winner? Louis!
Louis' victory party was short-lived, though, as Tom was quick to introduce crooner Rod Stewart with I Get a Kick Out of You. A pair of pros did their thang as well; I didn't recognize the lovely lady, but the guy looked like a brown-haired Damian Whitewood. It was all very pretty and flowy.
And then... more DWTS awards, and this time it meant an overview of the Best Judges Moments. Carrie Ann Inaba's moments consisted of emotional stuff, Len's were sharp quips, and Bruno Tonioli's were of the table-hopping, arm-swinging, cliche-making variety. Meh heh heh. I love Bruno's funky little brand of insanity.
But it wouldn't be a Dancing with the Stars results show without more elimination action, right? And that's what came next, as Brooke addressed the two remaining couples, Disney actor Kyle Massey and partner Lacey Schwimmer and NFL star Kurt Warner and partner Anna Trebunskaya. Kurt and Anna, dubbed The Bickersons by Tom, were saved to dance again, while Kyle and Lacey found themselves under the glare of the red lights along with Bristol and Mark and Rick and Cheryl.
Taylor Swift and her spiky-haired guitarist returned to the ballroom floor next to deliver a performance of her hit White Horse. Clips of some of the more memorable moments from DWTS' first 200 episodes played behind them on a large screen. Post-song, Tom pretended to pass out, so Taylor took the mic and introduced next week's big challenge: The Instant Dance, which, in a nutshell, equals 'couples will choreograph a dance but won't get their music until the show starts'. Ooooh, disasters in store! Sweet!
With disasters in mind, the next taped clip featured the current competitors talking about the role of stress. Brandy claimed that she's learning how to turn it into a positive, while Jennifer noted that it's all about balance and taking breaks.
And then, more Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 7 results, as Bristol and Mark were proclaimed safe to dance again. Man, Mark was stunned and jumped around like a little froggie. I hope Bristol is okay with sticking around for another week! Moreso, I hope Rick or Kyle is okay with getting the boot.
In typical ABC fashion, the Skating with the Stars 2010 cast announcement finally came about a few minutes before DWTS' end. Set to take the ice for the inaugural season of the brand new reality show are RHONY's Bethenny Frankel, skiier Jonny Moseley, soap actress Rebecca Budig, Disney actor Brandon Mychal Smith, 80s star Sean Young, and rock star Vince Neil. The pro skaters? Dunno yet, but I'm guessing that if you watch the segment again, freeze frame in strategic spots, and know anything about skating, you might be able to figure out who they are, too. Should be, er, interesting. Sequins, ice, blades, blood....
After one last break, the Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 7 results show finally came to a close as Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke were eliminated from the competition. I was never huge Rick fan, but I'm surprised once again. First Audrina and now Rick, who scored well last night. Wow. A gracious and teary-eyed Rick spoke fondly of his time in the competition, and was a total class-act despite obvious disappointment over his elimination. Bravo, big guy. Bravo. (And please don't sully the praise by grousing to the media.)
So that's it for Dancing with the Stars week 7 and for the 200th episode celebration. Tune in next week for more action as the dancers take on the aforementioned Instant Dance challenge. Or you can just check in with me. You know I'll be watching.

Post a CommentHOW CAN WE GET RID OF BRISTOL SHE IS HORRIBLE. SHE MUST GOOOO.
I was shocked that Rick Fox got sent home before Bristol. I know viewer voting plays a big part... but this is just getting ridiculous.
Interesting:)
Bristol should have been gone weeks ago !!!! A star??? Having a baby as a teen qualify you to be a star??
this show is supposed to be with the stars. bristol palin is NOT a star in any respect. she needs to go home with her mom who i think is keeping her from going home. it is time for bristol to go.
i thought that bristol palin would have been eliminated instead of rick fox. bristol can't dance. maybe her mom (sarah) bribed the judges to keep her in the competition, or even the big shots with the show. i predict the final 2 will be brandy and jennifer gray. i feel the winner will be.............Brandy.
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing =0)
good recap
I'm surprised he got the boot...I thought for sure it was Bristol's turn.
Good recap - I had fallen asleep again :) Cheers ;)
