'Dancing with the Stars' 2011 Week 4 Results -- Chynna Phillips Fails to "Hold On" for Another Day

"Dancing with the Stars" 2011's Fall season saw yet another celebrity Mirrorball hopeful get the boot on October 11, following a night of movie score-themed routines. But before the big reveal, musical guests Raphael Saadiq, Blake Shelton and Susan Boyle appeared, as did former "DWTS" pro hoofer and star of the upcoming release "Footloose" Julianne Hough. Here's a complete recap.

The fourth "DWTS" results show opened with a rendition of "Soul Man" by Raphael Saadiq. Never heard of the guy, but he and his thick glasses, slick suit and mobile mic stand put on a good little ditty.

Following the opener, a taped segment featuring a smattering of famous folks' thoughts on Monday night's action aired. Phil McGraw praised Nancy Grace's courage, while Ian Ziering thought David Arquette "stood out" from the pack. Kris Jenner appreciated Chaz Bono's "swagger" and Billy Baldwin hoped that wife Chynna Phillips, who struggled through her Tango last night, would have a chance to recover next week. And there were others, but filler is filler is filler.

The evening's second musical guest, Susan Boyle, hit the ballroom next with her rendition of "Unchained Melody". While she crooned from her pedestal mid-stage, previously dismissed "Dancing" season 13 pros Peta Murgatroyd and Val Chmerkovskiy swept and spun their way around the floor. The demure Susan quietly applauded the dancers after she'd finished her tune. Aw.

And then drumroll: the maiden shot of results action for the week! Tom and Brooke called up the first three couples of the evening to learn their fates: Reality star Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke, soap star and war veteran J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff, and talk show host Ricki Lake and Derek Hough. Ricki and Derek were the first to be declared safe to dance again, followed by J.R. and Karina. Well, at least the two top-scoring couples of the week made it through! Rob and Cheryl, however remained in jeopardy. Fair enough. For now.

Backstage, Brooke chit chatted with Chynna Phillips, Carson Kressley and Chaz Bono. Chynna deemed herself "a figher" and vowed to rebound following her disastrous performance. Carson hoped that everyone had enjoyed his theatrical dance with partner Anna Trebunskaya, while Chaz hoped that he and partner Lacey Schwimmer were on an upswing. We shall see.

And then, a moment that many a "DWTS" fan awaited: The return of Julianne Hough! But not as a pro; nope, she and Kenny Wormald pimped their upcoming film "Footloose" with an emotional dance. Said dance abruptly led in to guest star Blake Shelton's high-octane version of what else? "Footloose." The spectacle featured Hough and Wormald, as well as a troupe of countrified hoofers. Post dance, a near-tearful Julianne said she was "grateful" to be back with her "family" at "DWTS". More aw.

After a commercial break, Chynna and Tony Dovolani, Carson and Anna, and Chaz and Lacey stood awaiting news of their fates. Chaz and Lacey were proclaimed safe to dance again, followed by Carson and Anna. Chynna and Tony, however, remained in jeopardy. Man alive, seriously? What the heck is wrong with the voters? Gag. Sputter. But anyhow.

Up next a pre-taped segment featuring the contestants' thoughts on taking part in "Dancing with the Stars" aired. Yawner. Boohoo, Ricki Lake's clothes "smell like a barn" and David Arquette stays up late and Nancy Grace cries and Chaz Bono worries he "might crack" at times. Fast forward, please. Thanks.

Following a commercial and snack break, Julianne and Derek Hough performed for the first time together in the ballroom since "DWTS" season 8. I have brothers. We can't dance like that. Nope. Mine woulda dropped me on my head at least once. Julianne and Derek shook their teeny but talented tail feathers quite nicely.

And then shazaam, more results! The last three couples --Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus (who told Nancy not to fart in the taped, pre-dance clip, resolving questions over whether or not she'd tooted last week, aha!), David Arquette and Kym Johnson, and soccer star Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy-- joined Tom and Brooke to hear the big news. Hope and Maks were saved to dance again, but Nancy and Tristan found themselves in peril. David and Kym? Safe.

So that leaves Rob Kardashian, Chynna Phillips and Nancy Grace under the heat of the red lights. Ooooh.

With just minutes remaining in the "Dancing with the Stars" 2011 week 4 results show, Tom and Brooke finally put the three nervous couples out of their misery with the big reveal. Nancy and Tristan were given a reprieve, leaving Rob and Chynna to face the final dramatic music. After the requisite wait-time, singer Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani were eliminated from "DWTS" season 13.

Aw, well that's a terrible bummer. Chynna told Brooke that she was "disappointed" and "sad" but that she took responsbility for her mistake. She heaped praise on Tony for being there for her "100% along the way".

There goes another contestant a few weeks too soon, but what can ya do? If folks continue voting for the likes of Chaz Bono and Carson Kressley --for agendas and fun rather than actual talent and promise-- the better dances will continue to be booted too soon. That's just the truth of the matter.

"Dancing with the Stars" 2011 continues October 17 on ABC with the next week of ballroom action. Tune in and check it out. Or you can just check in with me. You know I'll be watching.

I hate that dancers can be kept on by popularity votes. Chaz should have been gone the first freaking night! Carson and Nancy are visibly improving I do have to say. Booting off Christan was a travesty. While Chyna did screw up, she was STILL better than Chaz! I do think Rikki is doing really well and while this AMC fan I loves JR, I think he is being overscored. Rob is nice eye candy, but he only dances so-so. The problem with this contest is that most of the men are merely adjuncts to their female partners and don't really do much dancing.
