Dancing with the Stars' Bristol Palin and Audrina Patridge Why Both Are Shocked

Carol Whyte
Dancing With The Stars continues tonight on ABC with Week 7's Performance Show and Season 11 has had its share of drama and surprises as well. While front-runners Audrina Patridge and partner Tony Dovolani were shockingly eliminated last week, Bristol Palin and her pro partner Mark Ballas, consistent low scorers, have managed to stay in the competition.

First there's Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani who after coming in second place on the Judge's scoreboard on Monday, October 25, were sent packing the next evening.

Their elimination was a shock simply because the duo had proven their ability and talent week after week. If indeed Dancing With The Stars' results are based on viewer votes then the only logical conclusion was that Patridge and Dovolani did not have a substantial fan base, or one that would carry them through the contest.

Patridge wrote the following on her blog about the results:

"When Tony Dovolani and I were sent home from Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night, we were both in shock. We didn't think we were going to be sent home so soon.

Even though Tony and I received high scores and were in second place, we still got voted off! It's just so baffling. I think a lot of people don't understand why it happened either. Even the judges were in shock.

After Kyle Massey and his partner Lacey Schwimmer were declared safe, it was us and Jennifer Grey and her partner Derek Hough in the bottom two. When the heartbeat music started playing in the ballroom, I felt like my heart was going to pop out of my chest! Then I heard Tony behind me saying, "It's us. It's us."

But when the announcer called our names, I didn't really know what to think. I honestly was in shock. Tony and I just kind of stood there like, "Is this really happening?" I was so bummed and upset because I wasn't ready to go yet."

Secondly, there's Bristol Palin who arguably has the least amount of experience as a dancer and/or entertainer out of the original lot of Season 11 cast members. Yet, DWTS is going into its seventh week and single parent has obviously won the hearts and votes of many Americans.

Up until last week when Audrina Patridge was eliminated, Bristol's endurance on the show could be at least understood...maybe she was a breath of fresh air, or the masses supporting her are just morbidly curious about her.

However, when ETonline.com asked Palin about her stamina in staying on DWTS, she even expressed her own shock stating, "I'm shocked that we're still around, but I'm thankful for our fans out there that have voted us back each week."

As Palin's partner Mark Ballas said "She's improving every week. ... If you watch the first tape, to last week, it's pretty awesome. Y'know what I mean? Not a lot of the other couples in this competition you see that growth."

Many are left to wonder how Bristol Palin will fare by the end of Season 11 of Dancing With The Stars. Will dancing ability, skill and talent carry those such as Brandy and Jennifer Grey to the finals, or will popularity, curiosity and intrigue produce a new type of Dancing With The Stars Champion?

It is PAINFUL to watch Bristol Palin dance. I have seen more talent with trained bears(and more grace). She must know that she is awful and that the tea haggers just keep dragging her through every week.
Sad...just sad. and actually kind of pathetic. Between her vapid opinions and her "weekend at bernies" dance moves she is not a role model for my daughter. I would much rather my daughter be like the informed, intelligent, graceful Kelly O.

I thought that DWTS was about stars not someone off the street. So what if her mother has friends, this season has really been a disappointment. Watching her moves is terrible. She said it herself she has different parents, shes not like Kelly O. thank God. Because at least Kelly came out and gave it all that she could. She was someone that cared about what she did. She should go home and take care of her baby and stay in Alaska if that is what she is worried about. She is not a dancer and definitely not a star.

And NO, I'm not pregnant!! I'm NOT! I just keep gaining weight in that one spot and I don't know why!!!

Bristol Palin hasn't "obviously won the hearts and votes of many Americans."

There are a couple of groups of her mother's obsessive and devoted followers who routinely use as many as 50 different email addresses and the URL anonymity of AOL to "freep" polls to bend opinion their way.

This is what they have been working on for the past 2 months with Bristol on DWTS.

Don't believe me? Go to http://www.conservatives4palin.com/ and you'll find remarks like "Voted with all options:)"....."Voted! She got 12 from me! Sorry, y'all I only have two email addresses"...."I did my Acorn voting. Is there an Acorn branch near you? Tell them you’re a communist and get extra votes. "....."I think Bristol will be ok because Sarah has more than 2M facebook friends and I am sure a lot of them will be voting tonight for Bristol because they like them both. They have written nice comments about Bristol in Sarah's facebook so I am sure they will also try to help her to get to week 8. Moreover, Hillb

It has become a popularity contest, not a dance contest. Just like what happened to American Idol.

The Palins and their supporters are flexing their muscles and giving snarky Hollywood a payback.

I am a huge fan of DWTS but I am totally pissed off that Bristol Palin is still on the show. Clearly she has no real talent, it's almost painful watching Mark drag her around the dance floor every week! Seriously, if not for the odd-balls who follow her mother, would anyone vote for her? Talk about flying on someone's coat-tails, it's so unfair, her presence means, she's taking the place of someone who deserves to be there. This is a dance contest folks!
