Dancing with the Stars Double Score Showdown - Romance on the Dance Floor

Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke Raise Eyebrows with Their Rumba and Ring?

Tonight on Dancing with the Stars was the double score showdown. Each couple received two scores-one for technique-the other for performance. It was also passion night with the two performance dances being the Rumba and Tango. There are nine couples remaining on Dancing with the Stars and more is being asked of them as the competition wears on. Tonight was full of the usual glitz and drama with a side of romance. I'm talking about Chad Ochocinco and partner Cheryl Burke. Burke was sporting some major bling on her left ring finger-a gift from Ochocinco that appeared to be a lot more than a friendship ring. Is there a Dancing with the Stars romance going on between Ochocinco and Burke? The pair aren't saying the words but their body language is saying a lot.

Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the first pair to take to the Dancing with the Stars stage performing the Tango. This was a big dance for Andrews, who has struggled with her footwork and the Tango has a lot of it. Andrews had suffered a back injury during practice this week but there was no sign of it during their performance. The duo garnered an anemic 18 out of 30 points for their technical score with the judges criticizing Andrews for not getting her heels down. The performance scores were slightly better totaling 21, which gave them a grand total of 39 out of 60. When Erin Andrews saw their scores, she asked the audience to vote for them knowing they would definitely need the votes to keep from being eliminated.

Next up on DWTSEvan Lysacek and partner Anna Trebunskaya performed the Tango. In spite of being an Olympic gold medalist in figure skating, Lysacek has struggled with his footwork on the dance floor. Tonight Evan's footwork was stellar and their scores reflected that. The pair received a strong 26 out of 30 points for both their technique as well as their performance giving them a grand total of 52 for the night.

Dancing with the Stars duo Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel hit the floor next performing the Rumba. These two seemed to be having a genuinely good time, but head judge Len Goodman thought the performance lacked highlights and even called it boring. The audience clearly disagreed with him, booing as he criticized them. Judges Carrie Ann and Bruno's remarks didn't go over well with the audience either. This stung Nash, whose performance was dedicated to the memory of her brother. The pair received a total of 18 out of 30 for both their technical and performance scores leaving them with a grand total of 36 out of 60 available points. Not great.

Aiden Turner and partner Edyta Sliwinska performed the Rumba for the Dancing with the Stars audience next. I have to say, Edyta was on the verge of a wardrobe malfunction with that dress throughout the dance. I wasn't sure if she was going to be able to keep all of her parts covered until the end! Edyta did manage to keep the dress from going completely astray in spite of the fact that it looked as if it had been through a shark attack. Len Goodman was booed once again when he criticized the pair saying that he thought they couldn't get any worse until he saw this performance. Ouch. The pair took it in stride receiving their scores with a smile and a laugh. Technical marks were harsh with a total of 15 out of 30 points awarded. Their performance scores totaled 18 out of 30 points giving them a total of 33 points overall. Horrendous! What-no points for keeping that dress in check while twirling around and doing splits? Where's the love? I'm thinking that could have been added to their technical score. Perhaps the audience will show this pair a little love with their votes.

Dancing with the Stars competitors Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough needed to dance their way back to judge Len Goodman's good side with their Rumba on the double score showdown. The pair annoyed Goodman last week when they broke the rules during their Quickstep performance so they knew they were under a microscope heading into this weeks performance. The judges weren't feeling the love here either. In spite of their critical remarks, the judges awarded 25 out of 30 for the technical and a total of 25 for their performance giving the pair a total of 50.

Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower's Tango was a bit stiff in parts, but I thought their spins up and down the stairs rocked. Jake actually caught the edge of his shoe and fell forward during the performance but he reeled it in to finish strong. The judges gave them crap for being messy and criticized their footwork. Well yeah, Jake fell. Dancing with the Stars is a competition and the judges know what they are looking for. Jake and Chelsie received 19 out of 30 for the technical and their performance earned a total of 19 as well giving them a total of 38.

Next we arrived at the performance from Hell. Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani's Tango was nothing short of robotic and strange, but for them it was pretty good. Gosselin's feet were all over the place and she kept looking upward as if she was expecting a pigeon to crap on them as they danced. Who told her to do that? Okay, this wasn't their worst dance believe it or not, so the judges were impressed with the fact that Kate didn't fly off the stage or fall, so in their book this was a definite success. I will say that even though I believe Kate Gosselin is the worst dancer this season on Dancing with the Stars, she does try and she smiles in spite of it all, so that is worth something. With a technical score of 14 out of 30 and a performance score of 18 giving them a total of 32, these two will be heavily relying on audience votes to keep them from being eliminated. Nothing will surprise me at this point.

Next up on passion night on Dancing with the Stars came Chad Ochocinco and partner Cheryl Burke firing up the dance floor with their Rumba. The judges believed that this was their best performance by far. The two definitely seemed connected-at the hips. Cheryl was sporting some major bling on her left ring finger-a gift from Ochocinco. What's the significance? It certainly looked like a lot more than a friendship ring, but who's speculating? Their technical score was 21 and performance score of 23 giving them a grand total of 44. Derek Hough could be seen holding up hearts in the background as the pair received their scores. What do you suppose that means? A Dancing with the Stars romance might be underway...

The last performance of the night on Dancing with the Stars was the Rumba performed by Pamela Anderson and partner Damian Whitewood. As usual, Pamela struggled to keep her inner slut contained, but she tried. The judges were impressed with Bruno calling it their best dance to date. The pair received a total of 23 for technical and 24 on the performance giving them a 47 for the night.

I don't think there's much of a chance that Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke will be getting voted off after piquing the audience's interest with the possibility of a Dancing with the Stars romance. Someone has to be eliminated Tuesday night, it's anyone's guess if Gosselin will finally get the ax.
