Dancing with the Stars Elimination April 20 - Hasta Gosselin

Kathrine Lloyd
The Dancing with the Stars elimination show for April 20th delivered the inevitable results that many had been expecting for weeks. Kate Gosselin was finally eliminated from the show narrowing the field of contestants to a pack of true contenders. It wasn't a personal attack on Gosselin-she was the weakest competitor on DWTS.

Dancing with the Stars elimination show opened with an encore performance inspired by the movie Risky Business by Jake Pavelka and partner Chelsie Hightower. Even after more than two decades and all of Tom Cruise's flaky behavior, women everywhere still remember the movie fondly. The encore dance was followed by a live performance by Grammy winner Maxwell. Of course Maxwell's performance was accompanied by the Dancing with the Stars pros. Most of Maxwell's performance was lost on me because the dancing was off the charts. I mean really-get a room already! I think someone may have gotten pregnant during that performance!

Chad Ochocinco and partner Cheryl Burke found themselves beneath the glare of the red light tonight on the Dancing with the Stars elimination show after seemingly finding their stride last week. What a difference a week makes! There was still a strange tension apparent between Ochocinco and Burke. Last week the pair were giddy and Burke is sporting a Ring that Ochocinco gave to her causing a lot of speculation about its meaning. This week I think that people accept that it's a token of friendship and thanks from Ochocinco or perhaps a lukewarm friendship ring. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Next on Dancing with the Stars elimination show there was a routine choreographed by Debbie Allen that came complete with a tribute performance inspired by Fame. As usual, there were lots of flashing lights and skimpy dresses to keep the audience engaged while awaiting the results they were anticipating. I have a theory that if there is enough spray-tanned skin showing, people completely forget what it is they are waiting for. Dancing with the Stars threw in the added distraction of showing the remaining contestants enjoying the privilege of orchestrating the design of the fashion their partners will be sporting next week. Can't wait to see those outfits!

Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower joined Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke beneath the glare of the red light facing potential elimination tonight. Pamela Anderson found herself in the bottom two once again as well along with partner Damian Whitewood. Judge Bruno Tonioli was quick to point out that Anderson has done an excellent job of getting into character and she's a good dancer. In spite of the fact that Dancing with the Stars is partly a popularity contest and it seemed as if Pamela Anderson might go the way of the sacrificial lambs before, the audience stepped up by eliminating Kate Gosselin. Gosselin was emotional about the decision as would be expected and thanked the audience for standing behind her for so long. Whether you like Kate Gosselin or not, there is something to be said for doing your best in spite of the odds being stacked against you. Everyone can get behind that. Dancing with the Stars is getting leaner and the competition will only grow more fierce from here on out.

It was definitely her time. I really thought they were probably going to vote someone else off again, so it surprised me.
