The show opened with a recap of the highlights (and lowlights) of yesterday's performances, including quick snippets from the judges' critiques and comments from the celebrity confessionals. Special attention was given to Marie's fainting episode, and then previously unaired footage of her getting up from the floor and bowing to the crowd was shown. Tom and Samantha then reviewed the current leaderboard standings, which featured Marie and Jonathan and Mark and Kym tied for last place with 22 points each, and Melanie and Maksim in the lead with a score of 29. Mel and Maks had the honor of performing their Samba as the week's encore dance.
After a commercial break, Superstar Jennifer Lopez performed the single Do It Well from her latest album. Lopez rose to the top of the stage on a platform in dramatic fashion, surround by a golden burst of fireworks. (Just to feed the pregnancy rumors: Her outift was comprised of knee-high black boots, a stack of silver bangle bracelets and a very loose, airy capelike top that could very easily hide a baby bump.) After her standing ovation ended, Tom and Samantha introduced the studio audience commentary, which featured Florence Henderson praising Jennie, and another audience member surmising that Sabrina and Mark are in love, among other insights. Sabrina and Mark were then proclaimed safe, as were Mel and Maks.
Samantha interviewed Marie and Jonathan and Helio and Julianne backstage after the break. Marie once again insisted that she's fine to perform, blaming poor air quality and allergies for her fainting spell. Samantha then asked Helio about his slip in the standings, and he said that they're still working hard and having fun. Tom explained that the celebrities would all be taking part in a group dance next week, and then introduced a group dance act by film and television choreographer Christian Perry and his dancers; the routine was set to Fall Out Boy's popular single Dance, Dance.
After a break, Jennifer Lopez performed her Grammy-nominated song Let's Get Loud, and a group of eight professional dancers (Alec, Edyta, Julianne, Derek, Karina, Cheryl, Mark and one additional dancer I didn't recognize) joined her on the dancefloor. A pack featuring the professional dancers talking about choreography and the pressure of the competition then aired. Julianne said that she likes to have three big elements - one at the beginning, one in the middle and one at the end of each dance, while Maks revealed that for him, the dancing is all about the relationship between the two dancers, so he puts routines together as he goes along. Back in the ballroom, Cameron and Edyta were saved, leaving the fate of five couples in question for another 15 minutes.
Samantha interviewed Mel and Maks and Mark and Kym backstage. She asked Mel who she thought would be in the bottom two, and Mel diplomatically avoided answering the question. Samantha then praised Mark and Kym's routine, and asked Mark if he was worried about potentially being in the bottom two. Mark said no, and insisted that they're having fun. Next, Tom introduced a pack showing the celebrities' schedules outside of their Dancing with the Stars committment. Jennie and Derek moved on to next week's competition, while Mark and Kym were relegated to the red glare of the bottom two.
After the commercial break, Marie and Jonathan and Helio and Julianne were proclaimed safe, leaving Jane and Tony in the bottom two. Carrie Ann was "completely shocked" to see Jane in the bottom two, and Bruno said that if Mark were to leave, "it would be a great loss". Len said that although he enjoyed them both, he'd rather see the elegant Jane continue on. Tom then revealed that Mark and Kym had been eliminated. The crowd (and the judges) gave him a standing ovation, and Mark claimed to have lost 37 pounds during his time on the show. Mark thanked the entire Dancing with the Stars family, and the pair shared their last dance.
Tune in next Monday at 8 Eastern for the sixth week of competition and see who rises to the challenge and who falls flat.

Post a Commentwell written
I'm hooked! I watched my first show the nite Marie Osmond fainted. Anyway, I absolutely love Dancing with the Stars!
I was clicking around and did see Jennifer Lopez singing and thought it was very well done and her outfit was nice and I was trying to figure out if she is pregnant.
Oh, wait, that comment was on your LAST article, you wrote another one very quickly!
I was sure I posted about this but I keep seeing those replays of Marie Osmond falling, really scary (the fainting).
I've always liked Jane Seymour. That's too bad she was in the bottom two.
I was super surprised to see Jane in the bottom two! I just about had a fit. :) I thought Marie and Mark *should* have been in danger, but I'm guessing Marie pulled out some serious pity votes.
Great review! :)
I was a little surprised to see Jane Seymour in the bottom 2. Good review, as always
