Dancing with the Stars - Who I'd like to See Compete

Shelly Stone
The new season of Dancing with the Stars is right around the corner. ABC has yet to announce which stars will be taking part in the competition. All the speculation led me to ponder who I'd like to see on the reality dance show.

For women I'd love to see a big actress such as Meg Ryan or Sandra Bullock. Both have played "clumsy" characters on screen, but are such accomplished actresses that watching them take on a role as a dancer would be fun. Other women that would be entertaining on the show might include Reba McEntire, who I never followed as a country singer but grew to love on her sitcom, and Rachel Ray, who has such a large following that would surely provide for great ratings.

Talk show hosts in general have good personalities for reality shows and if a dream list were to materialize, Oprah would be at the top of mine. Ellen Degeneres, who everyone already knows loves to dance, would also be an interesting addition to the show, especially to watch her take on such a traditionally feminine role. Martha Stewart, another host, or should I say hostess, would throw a twist to things. Come to think of it, despite all her social grace, I've never seen Martha wear a dress.

Jamie Lee Curtis, who seems to be quite proud of her changing roles as she ages, could represent the older women of the bunch gracefully. Megan Mullally might also be a hoot on the show, but not as much as the actor that played Jack (Sean Hayes)! One final woman I'd love to see on Dancing with the Stars is Marie Osmond. In fact, I'd love to see both Donny and Marie on the show at the same time. Bring back some of that sibling rivalry and indulge us 30- and 40-somethings.

Men I'd love to see on the show include the reclusive and secretive David Letterman, though I'd even settle for his loopy sidekick Paul Schafer, Wolf Blitzer, Jim Carey and James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano). Hulk Hogan is doing well with reality TV and if he could be squeezed into the outfits, would get me to watch the show. Ray Romano or his onscreen brother Brad Garrett, could add some comedy. And for unlikely guys, how about maybe Eminem or Prince. While thinking about princes - Prince William would be a dream - any chance he'd indulge us?

The next season of Dancing with the Stars starts September 24th on ABC and is sure to be entertaining, no matter who is chosen to be on the show.
