Dancing with the Stars Results Show - so Long Aiden and Edyta!

Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska Were Eliminated from Dancing with the Stars

Kathrine Lloyd
This week on Dancing with the Stars results show it was Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska who were given their walking papers. The interesting thing about Dancing with the Stars is that it makes no difference whatsoever if the eliminations are fair or reasonably justified. This is a popularity contest and it's very clear that this season on Dancing with the Stars that the audience is choosing to keep its worst dancer around week after week. I'm talking about Kate Gosselin of course. Kate Gosselin has scored at or just above the bottom every week this season on Dancing with the Stars and yet she sticks around time and time again.

What is it that is causing the Dancing with the Stars audience to vote over and over again to keep the worst dancer in the competition? Is this a simple case of an audience wanting to see the underdog remain in the competition? Are all of America's soccer moms standing behind Kate Gosselin? What is the driving force behind the voting this season on Dancing with the Stars? It seems to defy logic and a sense of fair play.

Let's look at the history of the eliminations this season on Dancing with the Stars. Shannen Doherty was the first victim voted off. Was Shannen the worst dancer on the show? Not by a long shot. Next we said goodbye to Buzz Aldrin and while it wasn't a feel-good situation, it did seem fair. It seemed from the beginning that barring unforeseen improvements, both Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin would be the first two competitors eliminated.

This type of voting makes a mockery of Dancing with the Stars if the audience is supposed to view this as an actual dance competition. Instead it's being turned into more of a "prom queen" voting situation. The audience can vote to keep Kate Gosselin around all they like. In the end will there be a true dancer winning the competition? No. It is once again a pure and simple popularity contest that has nothing to do with technique or talent.

It isn't like it's the last anyone will be seeing of Kate Gosselin if she is eliminated. She is going to be on two other shows after this one. I'm mystified by the fact that people can't seem to get enough of her. If she could dance, I'd say it makes sense, but that isn't the case is it?
