Dancing with the Stars Results Show Season 9 Week 5

DWTS Pays Honor to Michael Jackson; Swimmer Sinks

Ten couples faced the midpoint of the season last night as Dancing with the Stars paid tribute to Michael Jackson. The scores have moved closer together as the less-talented dancers have been weeded out. This week's results surprised a few people, including myself, which just proves how powerful fan voting can be.

Tom Bergeron narrated a video recap of the stars' performances and the judges' scores from Monday night. Viewers were informed that Kelly Osbourne has sprained her ankle during the performance Monday night and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Still sore, she is expected to be able to continue. This week's repeat performance selected by the judges was the Argentine Tango performed by Donny Osmond and partner Kym Johnson. Osmond's score of 29, his highest yet, had him feeling like a real contender he said.

Nora Jones performed her song It's Gonna Be.

A short piece expressing each of the star's fears about being sent home was followed by the revelation that Mark DaCascos, Donny Osmond and Mya - the three top scorers from the previous night, were all safe.
A staged but entertaining run-through of what show day is like, from arrival at the studio to stage time was aired. Each star did a segment on what it's like to get ready for the big night and how they cope with jitters.

Next we learned Kelly Osbourne was safe while Joanna Krupa landed in jeopardy as did Aaron Carter for the second time in a row.

The lowest scoring male and female stars learned their fates next. Michael Irvin made it through while Natalie Coughlin discovered she was in jeopardy.

Nora Jones sang her second number, Come Away with Me. Professional dancers Jonathon Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya, one of Dancing with the Stars' married couples, danced to the number. Roberts revealed that this was their wedding song.

Much to my surprise, Louie Vito was pronounced safe, ruining my prediction streak. Melissa Joan Hart was placed in jeopardy.

All of the pros took part in the tribute to Michael Jackson which was attended by La Toya, Jermaine, Katherine and Joe Jackson. La Toya gave a short introduction to the number in which she paid honor to her brother as a dancer and shared that he was a fan of Dancing with the Stars. The choreography covered several songs and included signature moves as well as the expected yet exciting Thriller finish. Personally, I wish the pros got to dance more often and we could skip some of the guest dance performers. The Dancing with the Stars professionals are amazing to watch when they get to show what they can really do.

The four stars left waiting at the bottom were Melissa Joan Hart, Joanna Krupa, Aaron Carter and Natalie Coughlin. The judges were in disbelief when Carter and Coughlin were the last two standing under the red lights. Coughlin was sent home. While she didn't cry, she was visibly shaken and had difficulty peaking, saying that she guessed she hadn't shown how much this had meant to her but that it meant a lot.

Next week should be interesting high-energy as Tom Bergeron mentioned one of the dances will be the Jitterbug. To see a recap of earlier performances or elimination rounds, check out these articles:
