This week (March 31), Steve Guttenberg surprised the judges with a proper tango, in spite of the fact that he had to practice alone most of the time. His dancing partner was out sick with a virus. Even Adam Corolla managed to make the judges eat a few bits of crow after stunning them with his tango.
Marissa Jared-Winokur lost her flash and dazzle exactly when she needed it the most with the quick and happy American jive. Priscilla Presley, on the other hand, continued to impress the judges with her precision and performance as did fellow actress Marlee Matlin.
Here is how the contestants stacked up after their latest dance:
Shannon Elizabeth and her partner Derek Hough danced the jive to Goodie Two Shoes. Carrie remarked that she continued to be surprise by Shannon's confidence and ability. Len Goodman said what you see with Shannon is what you get; charm, grace, and a great performance. Bruno said that the star danced "all the way" and handled challenging choreography well. They couple score straight eights for a total of 24.
Marissa Jared Winokur and her partner Tony Dovolani also did the jive. Carrie Ann called the dance boring and said that Marissa was "better than that." Len called the dance a bit too careful and not done very well. Bruno said that Marissa was a capable dancer but just didn't pull off the jive. The couple received two sixes and one seven for a total of 19.
Priscilla Presley and her partner Louis Van Amstel danced the tango. Carrie Ann called it the perfect dance for an actress and said that she believed the performance. Len Goodman said he loved the passion, the drama, and the fire and pronounced the dance amazing. Bruno said the dance was well executed and pronounced it the pair's "best dance to date." They pair received two nines and one eight for a total of 26.
Kristi Yamaguchi and her partner Mark Ballard danced the tango to Rio Grande. Carrie Ann said that the dance technique was outstanding but that she wanted more emotion out of Kristi. Len Goodman told the couple that he liked the dance very much and said that Kristi was a talented dancer. Bruno Tonioli pronounced the dance clean and powerful. However, he echoed Carrie's request for more emotion. The couple continued their string of perfect nines with another score of 27.
Marlee Matlin and her partner Fabian Sanchez danced the jive to You May Be Right. Carrie Ann said the pair had good chemistry but that Marlee needed to watch her "pancake" hands. Len Goodman said the actress never ceased to amaze him and that she had done a great job. Bruno Tonioli said that Marlee was an incredible performer but that she had lost her timing once or twice during the performance. Other than that, he said it was a good job. The couple received straight sevens for a score of 21.
Jason Taylor and his partner, Edyta Sliwinska, also danced the jive. Carrie Ann said the dance was amazing but that Jason needed to open up his chest more. Len said that Jason's lines continued to amaze him but that his kicks were a bit sloppy. Bruno said he felt that the dance was a bit restrained but powerful. He also said that Jason was light on his feel and that his lines and posture were perfect. The couple received two eights and one seven for a total of 23.
Christian de la Fuente and his partner Cheryl Burke did the jive to Don't Stop Me Now. Carrie Ann said she continued to be impressed with how much Christian improved every week. Len said it was their best dance to date but that Christian needed to watch his loose arm. Bruno said the jive was full of rocket fuel and it was their best dance yet. The pair scored two eights and a nine for a total of 25.
Adam Corolla, and his partner Julianne Hough danced the tango to I Can't Tell A Waltz From A Tango. Carrie Ann called Corolla sexy. Len Goodman complimented Julianne on choreography that "covered a multitude of sins." Bruno Tonioli said that if he closed his eyes he could see Antonio Bandaras and Catherine Zeta Jones and said that Corolla was getting better. The couple received straight sevens for a score of 21.
Mario, and his partner Karina Smirnoff danced the tango. Carrie Ann told Mario that she looks forward to him dancing because of his style however that she felt he messed up a bit too much in this number. Len Goodman told Mario that he had flair but that he had messed up a bit and that his hold and posture were poor. Bruno Tonioli said that Mario was charismatic and had delivered a proper tango. The judges awarded one seven, one six, and one eight for a total of 21.
Steve Guttenberg and his partner, Anna Trebunskaya, danced the tango. Carrie Ann said it was Steve's best dance and that she appreciated that he was determined. She also complimented his sharp and snappy lines. Len said that Steve's footwork was getting much better. Bruno said Steve was "mean, manly, and mad." The couple was awarded straight sevens for a total of 21.
In first place, with a combined score of 81, is Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballard. In last place, with the lowest score, is Marissa Jared Winokur and Tony Dovolani.
I predict that Marissa Jared Winokur will be eliminated tonight, April 1, 2008.

I enjoy watching Dancing With the Stars and so does my elderly, widowed mom. When we can't watch it together, we enjoy talking about it later. Great review!
I've only ever watched Dancing with the Stars once and just long enough to see Emmitt Smith dancing. I know that Dancing with the Stars is a popular show though and many people love it.
Great summary! Thanks for saving me the time I'd have spent watching it!
