- Buzz Aldrin with Ashly Costa - 14/30
Now on with the Show!
Tom announced that had their been an elimination last week "it would have been a huge upset" which made it sound like one of the higher scoring stars would have gone home. That means that you had better vote for your favorites this week to help them stay around another week!!
Shannen and Marc were up first with a Jive, which had Shannen ready to give up because it was so hard to memorize. Even though she was worried the Jive was too complicated, Marc got her to focus and she agreed to give the difficult Jive a try. There were a lot of steps right from the start and it looked like she was trying to have fun and trying to hit all the steps. There were a few missteps but overall they seemed to hit everything pretty well.
The Judges: Len thought Shannen did well showing the fun and energy, but lost control at times. Bruno said her energy and performance level was so much better but she has to work on her kicks. Carrie Ann said it was a solid routine and it was "nice to see a brighter side of Shannen" but she needs to work on her musicality for next week. Scores: CA - 7, L - 6, B - 7, Total: 20/30, Combined Score: 38/60.
Aiden and Edyta disappointed the judges last week so they knew their foxtrot had to be good. Aiden was having a hard time learning the dance in only 4 days. Aiden and Edyta had a little tiff when he said he would leave if she wasn't more patient with him. In true soap opera fashion, he apologized and they got back to work. The dance seemed fairly simple and didn't look like it challenged Aiden all the much, but overall it looked decent. He still needs some work though.
The Judges: Bruno said he could see a "glimmer of hope" but "sometimes you get your knickers in a twist". Carrie Ann said it was a nice job and the dance flowed much better. Len said "it's gotta flow more but your footwork was very good". Scores: CA - 7, L - 6, B - 6, Total: 19/30, Combined Score: 34/60.
Evan and Anna were next to do a jive. In the midst of learning the Jive, Evan took a trip back home with Anna where there was a celebration in his honor for winning the Gold medal. Evan and Anna put a "Grease" spin on their performance and were ready to have some fun! Evan was right on time with Anna during most of the steps and looked like he had done the Jive before.
The Judges: Carrie Ann thought it was great and very in control, plus she thought he was more connected than last week. Len agreed with Carrie Ann but thought something strange was going on with his feet. Bruno said they were "Grease Lightning" tonight but he still has to work on the feet and "Be careful not to go wobbly". Scores: CA - 8, L - 8, B - 8, Total: 24/30, Combined Score: 47/60.
Niecy and Louis had a Fox Trot to do next which wasn't quite what she thought it was going to be. Niecy wasn't getting everything that Louis described, until he started to use food analogies! Starting off on opposite sides of the stage, Niecy had the slow and controlled movements down pretty well. She looked like she was really trying to have the classy personality and didn't fool around like I thought she would. Her fun personality still came through as she ended up in her husbands lap with Louis proposing to her.
The Judges: Len said it had "musicality, ease and sophistication" and he loved it. Bruno said she was "light and frothy like a strawberry milkshake." Carrie Ann said Niecy seems to know what she is doing but she will have to do it a little bigger next week b/c of the tough competition. Scores coming next! Scores: CA - 7, L - 7, B - 7, Total: 21/30, Combined Score: 39/60.
Jake and Chelsie had a Jive which intimidated Jake and overwhelmed him. There was one move that Jake tried to tell Chelsie to take out but she told him they are leaving it in, so we'll see if he is able to do it! Jake came out trying to show some personality and loosen up. While he kept up with her most of the time, he still needs to loosen up more. The spin move they had been working on was cut! So I guess he won that one in the end.
The Judges: Bruno could tell Jake wants this by his energy and determination, but said he has to work on technique in order to make it amazing. Carrie Ann nitpicked about a "lift" that she thought she saw but overall loved the energy and said he's "a joy to watch". Len thought it was heavy at times but thought he would stick around for another week because of his potential. Scores: CA - 6, L - 7, B - 7, Total: 20/30, Combined Score: 40/60.
Buzz and Ashly had to do Fox Trot next which was probably planned because I can't imagine him doing a Jive (which is kind of unfair if you think about it). Buzz's Fox Trot was slow and looked like an old man trying to keep up with his granddaughter. I'm sure he'll still get votes though just because of who he is. The whole audience stood for him and cheered.
The Judges: Carrie Ann said it was tender and charming but the dancing wasn't so good and thought Buzz looked too cautious. Len said Buzz inspires people to dance but avoided any criticism. Bruno said "it looked like you were avoiding craters" and received boos from the audience. Scores: CA - 4, L - 4, B - 4, Total: 12/30, Combined Score: 26/60.
Nicole and Derek were doing the Jive next and hoping to keep their top spot, but they didn't like the song they were assigned. I didn't realize they were assigned songs, I thought the pro dancers picked the music. Nicole was scared her dance would be too modern for Len. Derek and Nicole brought a ton of energy, but Nicole wouldn't stop making this kissy lip face that was driving me nuts! Their song was SOS by Rihanna which is definitely not your usual Jive score.
The Judges: Len thought parts of it were fantastic but he didn't like the non-traditional parts of the Jive. Bruno said "it was phenomenal" and he had never seen a Jive that good in week 2. Carrie Ann said it was perfection. Scores: CA - 10, L - 8, B - 10, Total: 28/30, Combined Score: 53/60. The first 10s of the season and most likely will be the highest combined scores. But you still have to vote if you want them to stick around!
Erin and Maksim had to do a Fox Trot which was difficult for Erin since the Tomboy in her kept coming out. Maksim found it hard to be "the calm one" because he usually isn't, but since Erin was so crazy he had to be calm. Erin had a minor wardrobe malfunction at the end of her dance but overall it wasn't bad.
The Judges: Bruno told her she was natural but needs to work a bit more (and then Tom cut him off). Carrie Ann said she has to watch the "death grip" on the hold. Len said the movement was fluid but he had a comment that the dancers should trust in their pros a bit more. "Turn up, keep up and shut up" was his final advice for that. Scores: CA - 8, L - 7, B - 8, Total: 23/30, Combined Score: 44/60.
Pamela and Damien had a Fox Trot and she brought a Marilyn Monroe look to it. Pamela wasn't always smooth and controlled with the dance, but she did have some good points. It seemed like she was running to keep up with Damien at times though.
The Judges: Carrie Ann said Pamela was good at changing characters and that she "brought Marilyn Monroe back to life". Len said it had an elegance and a "cheeky charm" but she has to work on posture. "Work on your center, not on your bust". Bruno said it was a "delicious tribute to the original blonde bombshell... and the dancing is good too". Scores: CA - 7, L - 7, B - 8, Total: 22/30, Combined Score: 43/60.
Chad and Cheryl were the last to do a Fox Trot tonight. Cheryl had to beg Chad to stop sticking his butt out, but she also flirted with him quite a bit... could there be something there? Chad kept his posture high but he was a bit too stiff, even for the Fox Trot. He didn't really seem to do all that much as Cheryl spun around him.
The Judges: Len said it was terrible posture and couldn't think of anything nice to say. Bruno said he looked uncomfortable and Chad is going backwards. Carrie Ann said he still has great potential but he has to start understanding the moves and letting go more. Scores: CA - 6, L - 5, B - 5, Total: 16/30, Combined Score: 34/60.
Kate and Tony were the last to do the Jive. Tony had trouble teaching Kate because he said dance isn't natural to Kate. He also got frustrated with her for complaining too much and undermining him. Tony wasn't happy that Kate questioned his teaching methods. She was about to walk out on him for the day, which caused Tony to take off his microphone and say "I quit". She didn't get it.... but does she ever get anything??
It turned out to be just a teaser (darn it!) and Tony came back groveling and apologizing, even though it was totally Kate's fault. He's too nice. Kate looked worse than an elementary school dancer doing her Jive. Oh my gosh, she screwed up half the steps and had to constantly look to Tony for direction. People - send her home! Vote for the others! Even Buzz did better than her. She only got a few claps and started to look like she was going to cry near the end.
The Judges: Bruno said Kate turned the song into a nightmare and said she needs acting lessons. Carrie Ann could see the fear in her face but at least was happy she made it through the routine. Len said her nerves broke her but at least she tried. As they waited for her scores, Kate made a marriage joke... that no one laughed at. Scores: CA - 5, L - 5, B - 5, Total: 15/30, Combined Score: 31/60.

Post a CommentYeah they did score him low. I think they are comparing him to the good dancers, but really they shouldn't put someone like that on the show if they know they aren't even going to score them according to their ability.
I only saw two couples dance...thought the judges were really pissy on Buzz's score.
I already didn't like Kate. But I thought she would fake a personality and try to be friendly. However seeing her partner ready to QUIT just shows how hard she is to deal with! I bet Tony walked out of the room, got a phone call about his contract, and that's why he came back.
SO many to eliminate and so few votes. Kate just makes me shiver - so painful.
I know some people say it is unfair that Nicole is on, but there have been past seasons that a dancer was on that didn't do well at all. Then there were people who started off bad and got great! As for Kate, I am just waiting for her to get voted off so I can enjoy the show more :) I think they put some people in that have skills just so the audience can say "wow!!" but I wish they'd only pick celebs that were all that the same level as well as the rest of you. Thanks for reading!!
I agree, I want to see the celeberties who can't dance.
I love this show but this sesson I'm not that into it anymore. Why are you getting dancer? like Nicole from the pussycats, she knows how to dance, get people like Kate a homemaker and Shannon no dance history, come on, get STOP GETTING THE DANCERS!!!!!
He did do well for his age. But is that fair that he gets to stick around because he does well "for his age" but doesn't do as well as the others? I guess I don't think it's a fair competition all the time when they choose people who are obviously not going to be able to compete fully against the younger ones - yet the older ones often stick around due to fame.
ithink buzz did well for 79 years old think the judges were a little harsh on the scores like to see the judges at buzz age out there at that age you did well buzz way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
