Dancing with the Stars Season 10: Week 7 Performance Show Recap - Live Blog!
My Blog Will Be Updated Throughout the Show - Mostly at Commercials - to Keep You in the Loop of Tonight's Episode!
Who's Left?
The Bachelor, Jake, got eliminated last week which some fans agreed with but others did not. 6 stars remain and one thing is for sure - they all have a huge fan base!
- Nicole Scherzinger with Derek Hough - 36/40
- Erin Andrews with Maksim Chmerkovskiy - 34/40
- Chad Ochocinco with Cheryl Burke - 31/40
- Pamela Anderson with Damian Whitewood - 30/40
- Evan Lysacek with Anna Trebunskaya - 27/40
- Niecy Nash with Louis Van Amstel - 26/40
Now on with the Show!
Erin Andrews with Maksim Chmerkovskiy were up first with a Quickstep and Len requested they stop taking their clothes off, but Maksim still wanted to do some tricks in his routine that he thought would be funny and involved taking his pants off and her skirt off. They decided to do the clothes routine anyway and it was... stupid. They started out in black and quick changed into red outfits at the start. It looked hesitant and pointless and kind of distracted me from the rest of the dance.
The Judges: Len didn't mind the clothing change in this dance and said it was Erin's best dance. Bruno noted that Erin did some of the very difficult moves beautifully but he said she gets tense in the shoulders sometimes. Carrie Ann said it was gorgeous and had great attention to detail. Scores: CA - 9, L - 9, B - 9, Total: 27/30.
Chad Ochocinco with Cheryl Burke were aiming for 10s tonight with their Viennese Waltz so Cheryl brought in Tony Dovolani to help him with his technique. Tony used football analogies to help Chad learn the moves. Dressed in all white, Chad looked like he was ready to bring it at the start. Chad looked smoother than usual and like he finally learned to relax out there. While technically it looked good, I'm not sure what the judges will think since there wasn't a lot of content.
The Judges: Bruno called Chad a "gentle giant" and thought it was a great job with just a few minor things he can improve on. Carrie Ann said Chad was "tender and graceful" and she loved it. Len thought his arms were fluid and this is the "night you became a contender". Backstage Cheryl showed the diamond necklace that Chad gave her for her birthday. Brooke tried to get Chad and Cheryl to say they are in a relationship but they just skated right by that one. Scores: CA - 8, L - 9, B - 8, Total: 25/30.
Nicole Scherzinger with Derek Hough wanted to do a "very pure Waltz" because Len always comments on how they don't really do much of a real ballroom dance. Nicole was nervous about being able to do the frame and the footwork that goes along with the Waltz, but once the dance got started it looked like she knew what she was doing. The dance was very technical with just a few nice tricks in the end.
The Judges: Carrie Ann said "you are by far the best dancer we've ever had on this show" but she didn't "become one" with Derek as she should have during the Waltz. Len loved the routine but noted that she made a few mistakes when in Hold. Bruno said they were close to "dancing royalty" but some of the choreography was so difficult that it caused Nicole to make mistakes. Scores: CA - 9, L - 9, B - 9, Total: 27/30.
Pamela Anderson with Damian Whitewood also wanted to refine their technique in their Waltz, but first they took a trip to the wildlife center where Pam donates her time. Just a bit of time to relax I guess. Damian tied Pam and him together so she could learn to stay closer to him in the hips. Their Waltz started out with a lot of big well-defined steps. Pam seems to have gotten the feet down but she does tend to look down a lot, maybe concentrating really hard.
The Judges: Len said she has to work on firming up her upper body but otherwise seemed to think it was good. Bruno said it was "pure and demure" and Pamela got the character right, but had the same comments about her top line. Carrie Ann saw a huge improvement in Pam's legs and lines and thought it was nice. Scores: CA - 8, L - 8, B - 8, Total: 24/30.
Niecy Nash with Louis Van Amstel wanted to move out of the bottom two from last week with their Quickstep. Niecy said her and Louis were "like a couple who got divorced, but still had to tolerate each other for the sake of the kids." It looked like Niecy left the comedy routine behind this week and focused on the technique. The dance was very fast but didn't seem all that clean compared to other Quicksteps I've seen this season. Niecy's funny, but sadly I don't think she has it down enough to make it to the end.
The Judges: Bruno said it was their best dance to date and Carrie Ann agreed saying everything worked well. Len agreed with the two - no negative comments really. Scores: CA - 9, L - 8, B - 8, Total 25/30. Apparently the judges thought she was better than I did.
Evan Lysacek with Anna Trebunskaya got their worst scores last week and wanted to get back up to the top this week with their Argentine Tango. Evan and Anna were pushing for it to be perfect this week. Evan needed to show he could be strong and direct in his movements and I think he did that for the most part. He also showed how easy it is for him to toss Anna around.
The Judges: Carrie Ann said he was very focused and thought it was sexy, refined and controlled. Len said it was fantastic. Bruno said Evan danced "like a true Alpha Male". Scores: CA - 10, L - 10, B - 10, Total: 30/30. Evan and Anna got a perfect score!!
Team Cha-Cha: The 6 couples were divided into two teams to compete in a Cha-Cha challenge. Team Gaga consisted of Nicole, Pamela and Chad and they were dancing to Lady Gaga, of course. Pam was the first to take center stage but I don't think she did that good with her part, it looked like she forgot it. Chad was next and he looked like he was counting along with the music but overall stayed with it. Nicole finished off the routine and was better than Pam but she didn't look that comfortable with it and I hate those faces she makes!
The Judges: Len thought the group work was pretty good and Nicole impressed him. Bruno liked the end sequence the best and was impressed Pamela kept up with the others. Carrie Ann liked it as well. Team Score: CA - 9, L - 9, B - 9, Total: 27/30. Final Scores: Nicole - 54/60, Pamela - 51/60, Chad - 52/60.
Team Madonna was made up of Evan, Niecy and Erin and they planned to dance together more instead of only being in couples like the other team did. The three stars started the dance out together before their partners joined them. Evan and Anna were the first to break out and looked like they were having fun as Evan mouthed the words to "Holiday". Niecy and Louis were REALLY having fun, you could see it in their faces. Finally, Erin and Maks were the most technical of the three. Overall I thought their dance was more entertaining because they actually looked like they were having fun.
The Judges: Bruno had good things to say but noticed they got out of sync at the end and Carrie Ann noticed they got out of sync at the beginning. Len thought it was a fantastic job considering they had to do two dances this week. Team Score: CA - 8, L - 8, B - 8, Total: 24/30. Final Scores: Evan - 54/60, Niecy - 49/60, Erin - 51/60.
