Dancing with the Stars Season 10 Week 9 Semi-Final Elimination Show = Chad "85" Ochocinco Gets 86-ed

Chad Ochocinco is Eliminated from the Semi-Finals

Theresa Leschmann
Last night's semi-final completion brought two perfect score performances and a slew of other top notch routines. After ending up at the bottom of the leader board, odds were on Chad Ochocinco to be eliminated. This time the odds were right. Chad Ochocinco was voted off the show.

A feature added tonight was a glimpse into the lives of the professional partners of the semi-finalists. Photos and interviews with friends and family showed me how the pros got to be pros. I enjoyed the photos of the pros as kids. They are so polished and impeccable on the dance floor that it's easy to forget how far they've come and where they might have come from.

Sara McLachlan appeared lending her unique vocals to the show. She performed a gorgeous medley of her songs "Angel" and "Loving You Is Easy" while husband and wife team Jonathon Roberts and Anna Trebunskaja glided through a beautiful Viennese Waltz. It gave me chills to see them together. Lacey Schwimmer, Dmitry Chaplin, Kym Johnson and Damian Whitewood joined in later.

The second group of college dance teams competed, Rutgers University and Utah Valley University. Both teams were very good in my opinion. The judges favored UVU, the only school to offer a Bachelor's degree in dance. Rutgers was scored at 21 while UVU earned a phenomenal 29. Viewer voting will determine which 2 teams will compete next during the finals.

I had such high expectations for the Macy's Stars of Dance feature that used voters to select previous Dancing with the Stars competitors Melissa Rycroft and Joey Fatone to perform a tango to Kiss's Rock and Roll All Night. Then I read that the pair had a hard time coordinating their schedules and had only a week to rehearse together. It showed. While Melissa was lovely, Joey seemed clunky and clumsy, a long way from the dancer who appeared in season 4.

The much ballyhooed appearance by Miley Cyrus was a toned down version of the song she performed on the music video "Can't Be Tamed". The song was fun and energetic but the dance routine was made family friendly for ABC audiences.

Next week is the finals and that means freestyle. Also the past competitors from season 10 will return to dance again and yes that means Kate Gosselin will be back. It is a closely contested race and the dances should be out of this world.
