"Dancing with the Stars," Season 11, Episode 9 Recap - the Semi-Finals
"DWTS," Season 11, Episode 9 Recap of the Semi-Finals
It was shocking last week that Kurt Warner was eliminated before Bristol Palin, but Bristol and Kurt have been running neck-and-neck in the competition for several weeks. Kurt simply didn't have the fan support to keep him on "Dancing with the Stars" any longer. Too bad he didn't make it one more week to the semi-finals.
The insinuation has been made and spread that Tea Party patriots, a political movement, are voting to keep Bristol on "Dancing with the Stars 11." The theory goes that the political movement is desperate to do anything to give the Palin name more air time. It is rather absurd. Palin has a base of support somewhere, my guess is Alaska, but I seriously doubt there are any political ties to her continued progression on "Dancing with the Stars." Maybe there are some fans who favor the underdog. We'll give the Tea Party theory a rest.
Regardless of the reason Bristol and Mark remain among the final four couples on "DWTS," season 11, episode 9 to dance in the semi-finals. Following tonight's performance and tomorrow night's episode 9 eliminations "DWTS," season 11 will be down to the final three couples competing in the finals for the championship. Every couple remaining is anxious to prove themselves and wants to get their hands on the prize - the mirror ball trophy.

"Dancing with the Stars," season 11, episode 9 recap - Double Dance Competition
Episode 9 called for two rounds of dancing - one Latin round where the celebrities were required to dance a Latin dance stepping away from their professional dancer for a short solo dance, and a second ballroom dance with their partner.
The scores from both dances were combined for a total score for the evening.
Celebrity dances recap, round 1 - "Dancing with the Stars," season 11, week 9
Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy - danced the paso doble
Brandy came into the semi-finals determined to dance well and beat Jennifer Grey. She and Maks were the first to dance the pasodoble. Her steps were sharp, quick, and well timed. Brand and Maksim Chmerkovskiy looked smart and confident on the dance floor.
Brandy and Maksim scored a 27 for the paso doble, with 3 consecutive 9s from the judges.
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough - danced the cha cha cha
Jennifer seems to have overcome her health problems and was ready for the night's challenge with the cha cha cha. It was easy to see Jennifer's excitement as she started to dance. She danced her solo with confidence and daring, in very little clothing. She executed the dance beautifully with magnificent the sex appeal. The way she was twisting and turning you wouldn't know she had any physical problems if it hadn't been revealed in behind the scenes footage in previous weeks of "Dancing with the Stars."
Jennifer and Derek scored a 30. This was their second perfect score for the season. Jennifer got a perfect score on her instant dance score last week, as well.
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas - danced the paso doble
Bristol Palin has made it to the semi-finals but still lacks confident. She was very vulnerable coming to the dance floor for the paso doble, which is a dance that requires passion and fire. Once she started dancing there was no evidence of Bristol's timidity. Her footwork ad intensity were the best she has done all season. The crowd responded very well to Bristol Palin.
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas scored 27. It was a great night with the highest scores Bristol and Mark have earned to date on season 11 of "DWTS."
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer - danced the samba
Kyle has managed to impress the judges with his showmanship every week. He has never been at the top or bottom of the leader board. I never would have thought Kyle Massey, Disney star, would have made it this far. He has learned to put on a face of maturity on the dance floor, but his dances always look a little sloppy, although he seems to always nail the footwork and get high scores. The crowd loved him, and he danced with ultimate energy.
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer scored 29, with two 10s from the judges.
Celebrity Dances, round 2 recap- "DWTS," season 11, episode 9
Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy - danced the Argentine tango
Brandy and Maks' second dance was very dramatic. They looked amazing on the dance floor, but when compared to the tango that Jennifer Grey danced earlier in the evening it didn't have the same flare, passion, or sex appeal.
The judges loved their dance, and Brandy and Maks scored a perfect score of 30.
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough - danced the waltz
Jennifer and Derek calmed down dramatically for their second dance, but it was beautiful and moving. It was an elegant and stunning dance. The crowd in the ballroom gave her a standing ovation.
The judges felt the dance was soulful and beautiful, and Jennifer and Derek scored another 30. It was a completely perfect evening for Jennifer Grey.
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas - danced the waltz
The second dance for Bristol and Mark had to have them on pins and needles, but it didn't show as they began a very moving and dramatic dance. Bristol actually looked like she had found her place and her persona dancing. It was quite a dramatic dance, although there may have a been a few slight missteps. The dance rouse a standing ovation from the crowd.
The judges weren't as impressed with the waltz as they had been with Bristol's paso doble. Bristol and Mark scored 26.
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer - danced the Argentine tango
Kyle and Lacey were up against tough compettion for the night, but they brought a sharp dance to the floor when they danced the Argentine tango. It looked like most of the difficult oves were left to Lacey, but the couple did a good job. Still, no one looked great doing the tango following Jennifer Grey's tango early in the show.
As always, the judges loved Kyle, calling him Mr. Charisma and comparing him to forer "DWTS" champion Emmit Smith. Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer scored 29.
The Leader Board Recap "DWTS," season 11, episode 9 recap
