'Dancing with the Stars' Season 12 Week 8 Performance Recap

Hey dancing fools! Last night we had another week, two dances from our final five. A rehearsed dance and the ever intimidating "Surprise Dance." Which...I don't know. I don't get it. I know I kvetch and complain every season about it, but what difference does it make if you have a song you know beforehand or not? Ballroom competitions use random orchestrations, because your dance is supposed to be choreographed to the count of the music. So I don't get it! I don't understand! Find the 8-count (3 if it's a waltz/ 4 tango) and go for it! Why all the anxiety?

Oh yeah...TV...duh... I'll go sit down now.



Everyone was pretty decent last night. It's hard to judge this pretty even field of talent, so it's really going to come down to voting from here on out. The stand-out of the night was Chelsea Kane with a spectacular first dance, and a just 'ok' Salsa for her second dance. Hines ward did a solid job with a great Foxtrot and very impressive instant Jive, and Romeo did a decent job with his two dances. But the problem with Romeo and Chelsie is that he's so boringgggggg.Swagger Schmagger. His dances all look the same to me every week.



Not really much to talk about with those three, but of note this week had to be Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio. Both might be in danger this week, but for very different reasons.



Macchio blew out his calf and knee and it was a amazing that he even got out there to dance this week. He gave a great Viennese Waltz performance, and unfortunately put all of those proverbial eggs into that basket, so his Cha-Cha looked like something you see your Uncle Mort do at weddings because he took a few dance classes. So naturally, they had horrible scores because of it, and finished almost 10 points behind the rest of the teams over all. I'd expect them in the bottom, even though the crowd seemed to have tremendous respect for Ralph getting out there and trying.



Who the crowd appears to be losing a bit of respect for is Kirstie Alley. Oh, Kirstie is a mess! Looks like this week, Maks began to lose his patience for her as she flopped around like a ragdoll and kept falling down everywhere because she only had a tic-tac and a diet sprite all day or something. She can't be doing that! Not really a spring chicken anymore, so she needs to be careful, or she's gonna bust a hip out there!



But her Argentine Tango was surprisingly good. I even found myself saying, "Go'on Kirstie!"...however, her salsa, in my opinion...stunk. First they put her out there in those hideous fringe pants Chelsea wears every week, only they put Kirstie in the "mature" version, reaaaaaallllly long fringe, which just looked like a skinned snuffaleupagus made into pants. She was still scored pretty highly, so we'll have to see if America is truly sick of her yet.



If I were putting Vegas odds on this one, I would have to say the bottom two tonight will be Romeo and Ralph, with Romeo going home. What do you think? Are you over Kirstie and think it's time for her to go? Is Ralph too injured to continue
