Dancing with the Stars: Second Day, Better Rhythm

Stephanie Modkins
The second day of season seven of Dancing With The Stars proved to be a better one. The celebrities were dancing harder and with more rhythm. It was a pleasant surprise considering the night before most of them were rather stiff. Of course, you can chalk a lot of that up to their age. As comedienne Loni Love put it, "they need to call the show Dancing With Depends." So what can you expect from the over forty crowd. However, the show was better. Below are a few of the highlights:

Actor Ted McGinley showed us he could move his hips by doing the Mambo. It was rhythmic and kind of sensual. Dancing With The Stars judge Bruno commended him on making such a big improvement. It basically showed America that straight-laced white boys can dance with lots and lots of practice.

Athlete Warren Sapp did the Quickstep. Although it was kind of like watching Mr. Potato Head dance, he was able to keep up with his partner and show us his quick feet. Pretty good for a fat boy. These aren't my words. They are the ones Sapp (and Bruno) is using now to describe himself. Personally, I believe a better term would be cute teddy bear.

Actress Cloris Leachman tried to dance the Mambo. Dressed in all gold, she added a lot of humor to her Dancing With The Stars routine including a "crotch grab." How did she do? Let's just say she danced like you'd expect an 82-year-old grandma to. Basically, we just gotta give her credit for getting on the stage. Also, she cursed during the scoring part of her performance. It was hilarious!

Model Brooke Burke gave the best performance of the night. Her Quickstep was sexy, stylish and full of energy. It was a surprise considering she just had a baby. So far, she looks to be the best dancer on the entire show this season.

Socialite Kim Kardashian bombed out big time. Let's just say she didn't know how to shake her ass-ets in a meaningful way to the song "Baby Got Back". Her Mambo was stiff and clumsy. It lacked rhythm and structure. Her partner was working so hard to make up for her bad dancing that his shirt flew open. Then, afterward, two of the Dancing With The Stars judges dogged her performance. What was her excuse? "I'm really shy and not sexy in real life." Girl, please! Why don't you shake your rump the way you do at the clubs when you are dancing with pro athlete Reggie Bush.

Comic Jeffrey Ross got kicked off the show. It came as no surprise that he was the first casualty of season seven of Dancing With The Stars. The man clearly can't dance and needs to stick to jokes. However, he took his last day in stride and with a lot of family support. Ross along with his family were all wearing black eye patches as a symbol of solidarity.

Well, these were the highlights of second show of Dancing With The Stars season seven. If you missed the first show, catch up on it by reading a recap of it here. Also, don't miss the next airing tomorrow.
