Dancing with the Stars Sends Jake Pavelka Home

It's that time once again on Dancing with the Stars-likeable contestants whose performances are improving are starting to get the ax. It's the inevitable shift that takes place each season on DWTS as the competition gets serious. As it would turn out, Pamela Anderson's voters came through for her and Jake Pavelka was sent packing. The Dancing with the Stars judging is going to be less forgiving from now on with even the small mistakes putting contestants in jeopardy.

The Dancing with the Stars results show wasted no time getting down to the business of delivering results this week. Erin Andrews and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the first pair declared safe to dance again next week. This week the DWTS judges decided they would like to see Chad Ochocinco and partner Cheryl Burke in an encore performance of their Argentine Tango. Equally good the second time around, Ochocinco and Burke are clearly back in sync and at the top of their game. The next bit of distraction on the results show was a performance by rocker Melissa Etheridge featuring the Dancing with the Stars pros. As is customary, there was lots of skin, spray tanning, and gyrating throughout the performance. Afterwards there was a shameless pitch for the newly released Dancing with the Stars workout DVD-gyrate those pounds away!

The next DWTS couple declared safe until next week was Chad and Cheryl. This was good for a laugh as Chad picked Cheryl up and came in for a kiss as she quickly presented her cheek. Nice try Ochocinco. This was followed by a ridiculous salsa guitar performance by Benise, who brought his own dancers. I'll admit, the guitar playing was great, but when you have your dance troupe wheel you across the floor on a platform as you toss your hair around and play-it's a bit much. Dancing with the Stars really hits you with filler to in order to burn away the hour time slot. Next they included a segment where two of the Dancing with the Stars pros were wired while dancing so that their body movements could be scientifically measured. It's interesting if you have nothing better to do I suppose. Edyta was resurrected in some fringy thing that was supposed to pass for a dress and she spun across the screen in slow motion as they compared her abs to a pole-vaulting pole. I have a feeling if science were presented this way in America's high schools, you'd see a lot more teenage boys yearning to become scientists! Just in case the boys weren't sold on science, she spun across the screen in slow motion once again as the camera was tightly focused on her legs and skirt to seal the deal. The sport science piece made it abundantly clear that the Dancing with the Stars pros are world class athletes-that look good in tight shirts and short skirts of course.

Melissa Etheridge came back to perform "Come to my Window" featuring the Dancing with the Stars pros yet again. This part was hilarious because they cut Etheridge off before she was finished performing. It was quite obvious that she was still playing and the expression on her face said it all. I guess they spent too much time on the science segment and had to make up for it by cutting into an invited guest's performance. Shame on you Dancing with the Stars! I am going to speculate that Edyta only wears one quarter of a dress when she dances. She is always one step away from a wardrobe malfunction.

The results continued to trickle intermittently until it was clear that Jake and Chelsie along with Niecy and Louis had landed in the bottom two. In the end, an emotional Jake Pavelka was sent packing. He took the news in stride, thanking his supporters and became emotional when thanking partner Chelsie Hightower. The Dancing with the Stars eliminations are tough now because it's clear how hard the contestants have worked and they are all emotionally invested. It's hard to tell who will go next at this point. After seeing Evan Lysacek in peril tonight, it's obvious that any contestant having an off-week could potentially get the ax in spite of how well they previously performed.

I lost interest in this show when Jake was voted off. It was a sad day.
