After the break, pop star Kylie Minogue performed her latest hit single while a group of men clad in glittery black outfits joined her on the dancefloor. Personalities in attendance last night gave their opinions on the celebrities' performances and the judges' critiques, and then two more couples - Priscilla Presley and Louis and Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony - moved on to the next round of competition.
Samantha interviewed the four celebrities who will definitely be competing next week after the break. Marissa said that she felt she would be going home and didn't sleep last night, and Adam said he was just there to plug his new movie "The Hammer". A humorous segment featuring the celebs and their "hobbies" then aired. We found out that Jason builds miniature boat models; Marlee works as a volunteer police officer; Shannon is President of the MacGyver fan club; Kristi is a competitive hot dog eating champion; Priscilla operates her own psychic hotline; Marissa is a surfer; Steve is a freestyle rapper; and Cristian has his own pet otter. (Keep in mind that it's April Fool's Day, folks. Sadly, it actually took me a few minutes to 'get it'.) The Macy*s Stars of Dance performance came next.
Kylie Minogue took to the stage again singing her song Can't Get You Out of My Head, and Julianne and Mark took to the floor to accompany her with a fast-paced, high-gear routine of their own. Samantha then interviewed Cristian and Steve, two of the competitors who haven't yet passed onto the next round, about their plans for preparing if they get to continue on.
A segment featuring a relationship expert who analyzed each couple's compatibility prior to the start of the season then aired. Among other thoughts, she claimed that Marissa and Tony were both dominant personalities, so they could have a hard time getting along. She claimed that Adam and Julianne are a serious mismatch, and predicted that they'd have a hard time communicating. Her "match made in heaven" for the season was Kristi and Mark (as if they needed another advantage!). Two more couples were then proclaimed safe: Jason Taylor and Edyta, and Marlee Matlin and Fabian.
After the final break, the remaining four contestants were informed of their Dancing with the Stars fates. Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl, and Shannon Elizabeth and Derek were proclaimed safe, leaving Steve Guttenberg and Mario as the last two celebs standing. Len said that he thought both contestants had potential. Steve and Anna were then eliminated, and my husband remarked that it was like "they just shot Bambi" and that he couldn't "believe they kept the radio-guy instead of Steve".
I'm bummed. I was hoping Steve would stick around a little longer because he was so happy and positive. I don't really understand that mentality that goes along with voting for Adam, since he seems to think the whole concept of Dancing with the Stars is little more than a joke. The people have spoken, though! Be sure to tune in next Monday night for more Dancing with the Stars action.

Post a CommentI love this show. Great recap!!
I can hardly wait for your next update but I guess I'll have to :) and that is fine by me. You write some great ones, very lively!
I love your reviews. I'm still pulling for Kristi! I think she could sela it by throwing a surprise triple lutz in there off the ice. What do you think Sherry?
Good overview Sherry.
:>)
Steve did a great job, but he definitely needed to go.
I thought Steve acted like a gentleman all the way through, very classy. While I was also disappointed to see him go, I felt that it might be coming....but hoped I was wrong. Nice recap, with your enthusiasm making these pieces shine :)
Great review and I echo the other poster - I love the "Just shot Bambi".
:D
