Dancing with the Stars: Top 10 Celebrities Who Could Win, If Invited!

Rolando Cruz
Let's face it, while any A, B, or C list celebrity can be invited to compete on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, it takes one with the right type of talent and charm to take home the coveted trophy. Here then is my list of the top 10 celebrities who could win a future season of the show, if they were invited.

Jennifer Garner:

The wholesome looking Mrs. Ben Affleck, star of the television series Alias as well as several motion pictures, has a background in ballet from her youth in Charleston West Virginia, and showed the ability to dance in five inch heels in the movie 13 Going on 30. Gardner's toothy smile, charm, and ability to look fabulous in an elegant dress will also help her score big with both fans and judges.

Herschel Walker:

Some former NFL football players like Emmitt Smith have done exceptionally well on Dancing with the Stars, and Walker could go on to do equally as well. Though 48 years old and 13 years past his playing career, Walker has stayed in shape well enough to fight in mix martial arts competitions. What's more, Walker's background in tae kwon do, and ballet (he danced a performance with the Fort Worth Ballet when playing for the Cowboys) would help with his performances.

Teri Hatcher:

Before she played Lois Lane in TV's Lois & Clark, or started in Desperate House Wife, Teri Hatcher was a cheerleader for the San Francisco 49ers, which gives her a background similar to last year's contestant Melissa Rycroff. What's more, at 45, Hatcher stays in great shape, having finished the Malibu Triathlon in 2009.

Hugh Jackman:

A personal favorite of Dancing with the Stars' Samantha Harris, who called him, "a song and dance man, and a "Broadway guy," Hugh Jackman would be a can't miss celebrity for the show. Harris went on to praise Jackman's charisma and ability to move like a dancer as reasons he could win on the show. The fact that the man cleans up well and look good in a tux would also go a long way with female voters of all ages.

Summer Glau:

Known for her off-beat characters in the TV shows, Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, Summer Glau has a background in classical ballet, and has studied both the tango and flamenco styles of dance. Her ballet-like movements are captured vividly in a fight scene in the movie Serenity, where Glau reprises her Firefly role of River Tams. Glau, who is known to do her own stunts at times, is also one to love physical challenges.

Patrick Dempsey:

Yes, Grey's Anatomy's, Doctor Mc Dreamy would probably win enough female fans votes based on his hair, blue eyes and physique alone, but Dempsey can also dance, and has proven that over the course of his acting career. Whether the actor was re-creating "the African Anteater Ritual" into the latest teen dance in Can't Buy Me Love, or dancing in the more recent Enchanted, Patrick Dempsey has always proven light on his feet.

Taylor Lautner:

The fact that he has a massive fan following among die-hard fans of the hit movies Twilight and New Moon, would go a long way towards helping Lautner's chances to win the competition. Then again so is the fact that Taylor is a martial arts expert with three Junior World Championships to his credit. Given the mastery he has shown over his body in such an artistic sport, you can bet the Lautner would be able to pick up dance moves with relative ease.

Emily VanCamp:

Perhaps best known for her role as Amy Abbott on the TV series Everwood, the lovely Emily VanCamp also has a strong dance background to go along with her good looks and dancer's physique. Before becoming an actress, VanCamp trained at the renowned ballet school L'Ecole Superieure de Danse de Quebec. Along with ballet, Emily has also studied jazz, tap, and hip-hop.

Shakira:

Though her dance background is not as formal as some of the others on this list, Columbian singing sensation Shakira, does have a fluidity of movement brought about by practicing the Arabic belly dancing movement of her Lebanese heritage. Combine with her musicality, Shakira would certainly do well in a show which is often heavy on Latin style dances.

Channing Tatum:

With a resume that includes working as a background dancer in Ricky Martin's She Bangs, video, and a starting role as a break dancer in Step Up, actor Channing Tatum would be a natural for Dancing with the Stars. Add to that the fact that he is married to dancer/actress Jenna Dewan, and Tatum might just have an overall advantage on some of the other celebrity competitors.

I also think that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz could do very well-she has a strong background in ballet and a fairly large fan base
