'Dancing With the Stars' Week 5 Performances: Is There a Doctor in the House?

'DWTS' 2011 Week 5

Victoria Leigh Miller
It was all about patriotism on "Dancing With the Stars" on Monday night, with the stars dancing a mixed bag of dances in a tribute to America on Patriot's Day. But one contestant needed a doctor to help cure her bad luck streak, while there was a three-way tie for the lowest score of the night.

The Highs:

Disney star Chelsea Kane and her partner Mark Ballas are the darlings of this comp. They danced a peppy samba to Miley Cyrus' "Party in the U.S.A." amidst praise from all of the judges. Score: 26 points out of 30.

Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke also impressed, with a Viennese waltz to the song, "America the Beautiful." Len Goodman noted that Jericho was still a tad flat footed (on the flip side he said Burke was anything but flat as he praised her for showing off her "rocky mountains"). Goodman teased that he'd give the couple an "eight" when they deserve one. They deserved one. Score: 26/30.

But Hines Ward and partner Kym Johnson showed once again that they may be the couple to beat. They were the highest scorers of the evening, nabbing a hat trick of nines for their romantic rumba. Score: 27/30

The Lows:
Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel may have had the honor of dancing the show's 1000th dance of all time, but they still tied for the lowest score of the night. While their score of 22 was a vast improvement for them, there's only so much you can do with a foxtrot and "Yankee Doodle Dandy."

Meanwhile "Karate Kid" Ralph Macchio and his partner Karina Smirnoff donned cowboy boots and hats before taking another nosedive on the leaderboard. Their Alabama- infused samba just didn't shine. Score: 22/30

Kirstie Alley and Maks Chmerkovskiy had a visit from resident "Dance Doctor," John Travolta. Travolta knows a thing or two about dancing (you did see "Saturday Night Fever," didn't you?).

After Kirstie Alley's tumble on the dance floor two weeks ago and last week's mid-dance missing-shoe mishap, the good doctor advised the couple to lay off the leg leaning and get more sensible shoes (he suggested Alley try an elegant high top sneaker).

Well, the doctor's prescription cured the couple's ills. They danced an incident-free foxtrot, scoring 23 out of 30 points.

The Scores:

Here are the rest of the judges' leaderboard scores for "Dancing With the Stars" Week 5:

Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin -Quickstep- Score: 22/30
Romeo and Chelsie Hightower- Foxtrot- Score: 26/30

Who's Going Home:

Sandwiched in a three-way tie for the bottom, it could be time to say goodbye to Kendra and Louis or Petra and Dmitry. Fan nostalgia over Ralph Macchio could keep him safe, even though he also scored at the bottom. You never know what's going to happen with the "DWTS" voters, though!

You can catch the "Dancing With the Stars" Week 5 Results show tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC
