Dancing with the Stars Week 8 Results -- Not a Huge Surprise This Week

Who's Going to the Semi-Finals?

Jolie du Pre
As we headed into the Dancing with the Stars week 8 results show, co-host Brooke Burke reminded us, "Leaderboard toppers are not safe from elimination."

So, who's going to the semi-finals?

Comedy included the silly "Dance Center," set up to mimic Sports Center. At one point, dancers were analyzed as if they were football players or basketball players. Of course, Dancing with the Stars would not be complete without musical guests. They included British singer Taio Cruz, John Legend and The Roots.

We got to see very young performers, younger than teenagers, perform - one on piano and the rest as dancers. "You're looking at season 30," host Tom Bergeron joked.

The first couple announced as safe were Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer. In addition, their impressive Jive, that produced two scores of 10 from the judges, was the dance the judges wanted to see again. Also safe were Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, who received perfect scores of 10 for their Rumba. Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas, who scored at the bottom of the leaderboard based on the judges scores, again, were safe, again.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy apologized to Carrie Ann Inaba for arguing with her Monday night, but his final words on that subject were "let's do our jobs." Maks feels Brandy should not be penalized for his mistake. As it turned out, however, Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy landed in jeopardy, as well as Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya.

Ultimately, the couple voted off of Dancing with the Stars was Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya.

Kurt left with a good attitude, which fortified what Bruno Tonioli said about losing a "real gentleman."

Celebrities in the Dancing with the Stars semi-finals are Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer, Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas and Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Episode 17 of Dancing with the Stars will air on Monday, November 15, 2010 on ABC.

Totally agree with your Bristol Palin comment. People need to vote for the right reasons.

To the people who have been voting to advance Bristol every week: Please consider honestly why you're doing it. There are honest Sarah Palin fans who admit that Bristol should have been eliminated a long time ago. Yes, she's making progress, but so is everyone else. Just because she's making progress doesn't mean she should stay. If you are voting for Bristol because you love Sarah Palin and the Palin family, please stop. You're doing a serious disservice to "Dancing with the Stars" and you're turning it into a laughing stock. Please vote for dancers based on their performances. DWTS should not be the popularity contest that it is turning into. Thanks. True DWTS fans will appreciate it.

@Dozenz - I hope you're right, because there's no way the producers of DWTS can't see what everyone is saying across the Internet. I visited a Yahoo! article today - same thing there too - in the comments section, hundreds of people complaining about Bristol advancing.

My prediction: makes it to finals, where her scores suddenly are much lower than we've been accustomed to her seeing in relation to the others with the claim that "We have to be more critical because its the finals!". The risk of losing future credibility and viewership if Bristol wins is too high.

produers are thinking "good for ratings". It would be naive to also feel that the producers have no influence on the results, and by that I mean they can "encourage" the judges to score some people higher to give them better chances of staying.

If you were to be consistent across the board, Palin would be scoring 6s, 7s, and occasional 8s. Kurt should have been in the 7s then 8s then maybe a 9, with Kyle slightly better now. Brandy/Jennifer/Audrina should have been in the 8s-10s most of the season.

By keeping Palins scores in the 8s each week) they hedge their bets that she stays.

Unbelievable! I'm starting to agree with your prediction that Bristol will win. That's scary!

  • Tiffany Booth11/9/2010

I cant believe Palin is still on there. What are they thinking? LOL =0)

  • Jolie du Pre11/9/2010

Yeah, my prediction is that Bristol Palin will win DWTS. I went over to the official DWTS site, and they're complaining over there too. I went to a DWTS fan site, and they're complaining there as well.

Reminds you of the way Obama won the White House don't you think.

When will ABC and DWTS wake up to this ridiculous situation with Palin? It is obvious to anyone watching her mommy's crazies are lined up to make calls every week to make sure that she does not lose. How stupid will this be if she actually wins? The only way to make sure she disappears is for the 3 judges to give her zeros on her next performance to balance the right wing lobby that is making the calls. I feel sorry for the contestants who were eliminated in the last 3 weeks. There were better dancers even before they stepped out on the floor. Its time for Palin to do the right thing and quit like her mommy did in Alaska.
