Lauren Romano
If you haven't been to Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center, it is not to be missed. There is nothing like the sights and sounds of New York City when the weather gets warm. Every year, these dance bands bring the heat and make thousands of people want to dance.

From June 29th to July 17th at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park you can learn to dance like never before. The open air dance party offers a group dance lesson from 6:30p to 7:15p followed by music and dancing from 7:30p to 10p; you can partake in one or the other but not necessarily both if you don't want to although it is quite the experience. The ticket price of $17 includes admission and a dance lesson. You can purchase tickets online at lincolncenter.org or on the same day as the event.

It doesn't matter what type of music you like, chances are you will find something here to get your hips swaying. On one night you can find big band swing and on another it's disco. Some of the other genres you could experience are Afrobeat, jazz, and salsa. It doesn't matter if you are a pro dancer or a novice; everyone is welcome.

Purses and bags are not allowed on the dance floor for safety reasons. If you cannot leave the bag at home, for a fee you can leave it at the bag check available at the park. To avoid traffic, consider taking public transportation. If you are unfamiliar with how to get to Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park, you can easily find out by going to hopstop.com.

You can keep up to date with the latest information on Midsummer Night Swing on Facebook and read their updates on Twitter.
