Palo Alto, CA 94301
United States of America
While she was crossing the street on a green light, "a very large van came around the corner from Colorado at high speed. The driver was not looking for pedestrians, was not even looking in the direction where his vehicle was going. His head was turned to the side looking for traffic. I had to run for my life, literally. He never saw me and he was headed right towards me. I missed being hit by inches," according to Ms. Fisher.
This corner poses many concerns for local citizens especially anyone in a vulnerable state such as the blind, elderly, and people with children who are unable to jump out of the way of careless drivers.
The issue has been brought to the attention of Palo Alto police, city council and the city manager by Ms. Fisher, and now she and other concerned citizens of midtown await a solution-hopefully before a tragedy strikes.
If you have input into this situation you can contact Palo Alto City Council and Palo Alto Police.
