Daniel Plainview For President

Three Hilarious Spoofs And A Mash-Up Of There Will Be Blood

OSCAR WINNING MOVIE

With 8 Academy Award nominations, "There Will Be Blood" took home 2 Oscars for "Achievement in Cinematography" www.oscar.com/oscarnight/winners/ and "Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role" www.oscar.com/nominees/. Daniel Day Lewis' Oscar for his outstanding performance as oilman, Daniel Plainview is well deserved. Even though we saw the movie more than a month ago, every so often my husband will randomly mock me if he's about to eat the last anything with a spin on the "I drink your milkshake, I drink it up" scene. Just substitute milkshake with any item such as beer, milk, etc.

I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE

If you haven't seen the movie yet, go see it in theatres. Otherwise, it will be released on DVD, April 8, 2008. Then check out these parodies. Being the last scene in the movie, I can't seem to get it out of my head. I'll be walking around and all of a sudden I'll hear Daniel Day Lewis as Daniel Plainview in his bellowing affected turn-of-the-century American accent loudly teasing "I...Drink...Your...Milkshake, I Drink It Down". We mentioned this to a few people and here's some of their favorite parodies that are out there on the web.

DANIEL PLAINVIEW ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTIAL BID

Talking lips superimposed over a movie still with a spot-on voice-over, position Daniel Plainview as an oil-hungry, yogurt entrepreneur in his bid for the 2008 Presidential Election.

"I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE" SHOW ON THE FOOD NETWORK

Saturday Night Live ventures what would happen if everyone's favorite oilman hosted a show called "I Drink Your Milkshake" . When he's not drilling for oil he's travelling across the country visiting various ice cream parlors and soda fountains in search of his favorite milkshake. The SNL crew describe the TV channel as "Porn for Fat People".

"THERE WILL BE OSCARS"

As a promotional piece for David Spade's live Oscar blog on Comedy Central's The Showbiz Show, Spade and the show's writers pulled together a satirical commentary by Daniel Plainview on this year's nominees. Warning use of profanity, the f-word and sh*t.

MILK-SHAKE MASH-UP

It was inevitable, somebody had to do it. 18-year old Kevin Kunze, a filmmaker from the University of San Francisco assembled together clips from the movie to Kelis' "Milkshake" song and garnered coverage on Entertainment Weekly. It's been viewed over 300,000 times.

"I Drink Your Milkshake" was inspired by a quote from congressional hearings in 1924 in which Senator Albert Fall used the analogy to describe oil drainage.
