Danielle Staub Responds to Her Ex-Hubby's Defamation Lawsuit: No One Could Think Any Less of Him Than They Already Did

Holy Crikey!

Danielle Staub is getting sued for $5 million?!? When did that happen?

Apparently a while ago. Danielle's former husband Kevin Maher had decided some time back to file a lawsuit against Danielle for defamation of character, claiming that she's made some pretty startling statements about him, the man to whom she'd previously been married and supposedly loved. These statements included that Kevin had killed her dog, forced her to play Russian roulette and even raped her.

Well, Danielle isn't taking this one lying down. According to reports by TMZ, Danielle has filed her own paperwork in a Los Angeles County Court claiming that Kevin doesn't have any proof that she'd ever said any of it. I find it a bit odd that she didn't claim to have not made the statements, but that he simply didn't have any proof that she did. Interesting. Staub goes on to say that since her ex was such a self proclaimed slime ball that even if she did make those statements that no one could possibly think any less of him than they already do. Is that really a viable defense? She's outlined a short list of his shortcomings including his admission that he has used cocaine (wait a minute...didn't she admit to that one herself?), that he has an overactive sex drive and jealous streak that led him to threaten to blow the genitals off of a man he thought was sleeping with her while they were married. Of course, all of these are things that we already know about Maher since they are also outlined in his now infamous memoir, "Cop Without a Badge". Aren't these two just a match made in heaven?

Danielle's response to the lawsuit is simply that the allegations of defamation should be dropped simply because this guy is a complete and utter waste of space. But, then again, I wonder where she would be if everyone who was a complete and utter waste of space was disregarded...kind of like the pot calling the kettle black if you ask me.

While I know that all of this stuff is going on well after the taping has wrapped for the Real Housewives of New Jersey, I simply cannot understand why I haven't seen this one before now? I mean, it's not as if the mainstream media is immune to Housewife drama and it most certainly seems as though Danielle thoroughly enjoys being the center of attention, even if it is the wrong kind of attention.
