Danish Almond and Vanilla Cookies

Vaniljekranse

Mary Wensing Dvorachek
3 1/2 c. flour

1 1/2 c. sugar

1 1/2 c. butter

1 egg

4 oz. scalled almonds (grate in blender)

1 tsp. vanilla

Work all the ingredients together, mix well, let stand for 20 minutes. Then put dough into a cookie press. Using any shape that you like ( the real danish shape would be to press out the dough in a long thin roll. Then cut into 2" pieces with a knife and shape the dough into a circle like a wreath. Place on a well greased cookie sheet and back until light brown (about 9 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees).
