Dannon Class Action Suit Settled

Marie Lowe
Are you a consumer that has purchased Activia or DanActive in recent times? If so you may want to visit a Web site and determine whether or not you want to participate in a class action settlement.

A lawsuit was filed in January of 2008 against Dannon alleging false advertising of their Activia and DanActive products.

A settlement has been reached and the company maintains they did nothing wrong.

However Dannon settled to avoid and cost and distraction of litigation.

Settlements are common in class action suits.

Attorneys from NIx Patterson and Roach were here in Northern Oklahoma last week concerning a class action suit pending against Freeport McMorRan.

Attorney Keith Langston told the crowd that settlements occurr more than trials in these types of suits.

As a result of the Dannon settlement, consumers can begin signing up for possible rembursement.

The first step on the road to claiming your damages is logging on to

this Web site and do some reading.

If you decide that you have purchased the products then follow the links provided to the site and fill out your claim form.

I have filled out my form and it is a painless process.

Those that retain their receipts and can prove up to $100 in purchases may receive a claim up to that amount.

The way I understand it, those that do not have proof of purchases may file a claim up to $15.

Before any money is paid a hearing will be held on June 23 to consider the settlement and counsel's request for $10,000,000 in attorney's fees plus expenses.

Claim forms must be postmarked or submitted by Oct. 1.

Is this the lawsuit that the complaint came from other companies saying that the probiotic culture is in all yogurt, not just Dannon?
