Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack Product Review

Kassidy Emmerson
I was watching TV late one night when I saw a commercial for Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack. The announcer said kids don't get enough calcium they need. (Specifically, 1 out of every 2 kids in the United States is lacking calcium, according to the Dannon website.) This product contains twice the calcium of milk. The ad said it tastes good, kids will eat it willingly, and so on. The next day when I went grocery shopping, I spotted Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack in the yogurt section. It was on sale. It looked like a fairly healthy food my grandkids would eat, so I bought a couple packs. Read this informative Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack product review and find out all about it.

Price and Availability
I found this product at Kroger. A 10.5 ounce pack, which is 6- 1.76 ounce cups, cost less than $1.50 on sale. I don't know what the regular price is.

Product Description
Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack is similar to yogurt. It's thicker and creamier, though. It doesn't have the tang that yogurt has either. According to the package, this product contains no artificial colors or flavors, and no high fructose corn syrup. Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack is designed to help "promote healthy growth."

Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack comes in 6, 12, and 24-count packs. It's available in Strawberry; Strawberry, Banana, Raspberry; Strawberry Banana, Vanilla, Peach, and Strawberry, Strawberry Banana, Vanilla.

Nutrition Facts
A serving of Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack is one- 1.76 ounce container. A serving contains 60 calories, 15 Fat Calories, 2 grams Total Fat, 1 gram Saturated Fat, 0 grams Trans Fat, 5 milligrams Cholesterol, 20 milligrams Sodium, 70 milligrams Potassium, 7 grams Total Carbohydrates, 0 grams Dietary Fiber, 7 grams Sugar and 3 grams Protein.

Product Ingredients
The product ingredients, obviously, depend on the flavor you choose. This will give you an idea of what Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack contains:

Peach Flavor Ingredients
Cultured pasteurized milk, sugar, water, milk protein concentrate, contains less than 1% of annatto extract, turmeric, fruit juice and vegetable juice for color, calcium citrate, modified corn starch, natural flavor hydrolyzed casein, guar gum, malic acid, chymosin, sodium citrate and vitamin D3.

Taste Test and Conclusion
Will I buy Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack again? Nope. I tasted the Strawberry Banana flavor, and I wasn't impressed. It was rather blah. The kids love the tiny "kid-friendly"containers, but they weren't impressed with the flavor either. They'd rather have Yoplait Go-GURT. It's that yogurt in a tube that's actually fun to eat. There are 10 grams of sugar in a 2.25-ounce serving of fruit-flavored G-GURT, so the difference is minimal.

I like the fact that Dannon Dan-o-nino Dairy Snack contains plenty of calcium without artificial flavors and such, but the kids gave it a thumbs down.

GoGurt is junk food...its up there with "fruit" snacks like the fruit roll-ups. While I prefer the stoneyfield kids yogurt for health reasons, I think this option is fine. The kids like the size and color and will consume a ton at a time, if I let them.

Has any adult actually tried to the regular YoKids Trix or the GoGurt? I tried it once, and it was truly disgusting.

Go-gurt has nowhere near enough nutritional value to justify the artificial crap it contains. It's not yo-gurt....it's junk food.
And Dan-o-nino is no better. BOTh ogf thses products contain more sugar per ounce than Coca-Cola does! Nice breakfast.

Throw them both in the trash and buy REAL yogurt. The kids will learn to like real food if they junk food isn't available in place of meals.

My kids love the Danonino, I like it too, it is a great snack and full of healthful ingredients. Our favorite flavor is Strawberry but we like them all.

Too bad the kids didn't like it.

I appreciate the review. It's a shame that children seem to be lacking the needed calcium in their diet. In a side note, I was reading an article on Yahoo earlier about how American children are turning into constant snackers, which is one reason why many are becoming obese.

As far as the kids are concerned, I'd def stick with the Go-GURT.

Thanks for this review. I'm a yogurt lover, and probably would have eventually tried it.. I won't now.. I eat yoplait also.
