Danny Gokey was Dreaming If He Thought He Could Pull of Dream on During His May 5 American Idol Performance

Danny, Danny, Danny, we knew this was going to be a challenging week for you, but you tried to reach out a little too far on this one. There were a million songs to choose from and you had to choose one that had you trying to hit a note that you are nowhere near capable of hitting. What were you thinking in trying to take on Dream On?

There was a sneaky suspicion that Danny was going to be in trouble during this song when you heard the critique from Slash. He expressed a little concern about the note at the end of the song and said it "could go either way." This did not exactly instill any confidence in the Danny Gokey Fan Club.

The concern was apparent the moment he started to try and hit those notes as he was beyond pitchy. Each and every one of the judges picked up on it and Danny has every right to be concerned after what I think may have been his worst performance of the season.

Kara hit the nail on the head when she basically told him that he may have taken their advice a little further than what they intended. They want him to have a little edge, but this was way overboard. Having said all of that, Danny is a talented singer with a huge following, but the question remains if they are going to have enough juice to bail him out of this one.

To add insult to injury, his duet with Kris was not much better than his actual performance. He was definitely better than Kris, but Kris had a better performance on his own. It is also not going to help Danny that he was the last singer of the night and the impression that he left was not a good one.

Of course, you also have to take into consideration that performance that Allison and Adam put on together at the end of the show. If anyone was on the fence when those two took the stage, she had to win their vote. Based on this one week, it is going to be hard to justify keeping Danny around. However, you have to keep in mind that Danny has not been in the bottom three all season. It is going to be a question if people vote with their loyalty or the performances. Danny deserves to go, but Kris may end up being the one doing his final song.
